I want to use staves, but I can't train for them at the weapon master ; ;. Know how to get to use them?

I don't know how it works for alliance, but for horde the 2h weapon trainer is in TBluff.

What race are you...better yet, what starting area are you in?
My priestess is a night elf, and my weapons trainer is by the warrior trainer in Darnassus. It cost 10 silver to train.

I am a Human Priest and I learned Staves from the Weapons Master in Stormwind (Trade District, straight up the middle on the right from the frontgate). Costed 10 silver I believe, you can also learn Daggers from the same NPC for the same price.

I do not believe there is a level requirement to train staves. After I got my undead priest to level 10 I made the long run to Tunderbluff. Talk to the person by the elevator and ask where the weapons trainer is. Go to the weapons trainer and he should be able to train staves for you.

My NE priest trained in mace, 2hand staves, daggers at the weapon trainer in Darnassus. Now, level 16' I have looted a 2hand mace, which I can't use. Will I ever be allowed to train 2hand mace? What about shields? does the prriest ever get to use a shield?

Common higher level priests.... any answers would be appreciated.

I was spolied to the Khazam FFXI items useable by class feature I think. (I miss being able to see at what level I could equip something, and therefore plan ahead). Anyways, I was wondering about staffs. I think Priests look good with them. Here is a link I found.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/characters.html

Now, if you look about half way down there is a pic of someone using a staff. It looks like the staff is glowing on one end. Just wondering 4 things...

1. Do most priest who have used this weapon find the training/obtaining one is worth it in the long run?

2. In later levels, are theese like wands, do they "shoot" and act as ranged?

3. At what level can jobs get this training in this item?

4. The "glowing cool looking end" of higher level staff's, is this really just for show?

Thanks alot.

The glow was enchanted by an enchanter for +damage to beasts or +weapon damage.

Staves are definitely worthwhile. They are probably the most useful and important piece of equipment to the priest. The reason for this is that as a weapon it has the most stats compared to other weapons of the same level. Staves also tend to
be the most powerful melee weapons we will receive (or daggers, which I've rarely seen a priest use).

The glow of the staff could also be Feedback, a human only priest spell that has a chance to drain mana from target for damage.

I doubt priest will ever be able to use two-handed weapons (role-play wise, we don't have much strength). I don't think we'll ever be able to use shields either since we'd be able to double our armor with one good shield.

Do not limit yourselves to just staves. While they *often* have the best stats for a weapon you must realize that sometimes the results are not as good as a mace or dagger + good offhander. I see one handed weapons that I can use in my level range that out damage my current staff. Sometimes you may use different weapons in different circumstances (i.e. group/solo) A good example is the gear from SM, especially if you're Horde. If you do SM enough you'll probably come out with a Hand of Righteousness which is a 1 handed mace with +8 spi +14 healing spell/effects, a prophetic cane which is offhand +12 int +5 sta (quest reward), and an Illusionary Rod which adds 15 int 10 spi and 7 sta if I remember correctly. For soloing I used to use the Rod for it's higher DPS, higher stats as I rarely had to worry about healing effects that much. However, I still use HoR/Proph cane (or Mordresh's skull depending on situation) while grouping for that bonus to my heals. I don't need to worry about my DPS and since all my spells are heals the +14 to heals helps me more than the few stats I lose. Now that doesn't mean I don't go melee with my mace while everyone's on a mob, I typically do to add that extra bit of DPS instead of just standing around. But I'm not as concerned with my DPS in this situations as when soloing because now my DPS is just a little bit of bonus damage added to the group's. I'll admit I let my dagger skill fall significantly behind, but hopefully I'll be getting that sweet mana regen / +11 int dagger from Mauradon soon and I'll have a reason to level it up.
