Hunter= Mage Hunter?Follow

I haven't played yet but I was reading some of the mage types(Magic users) forums and noticed that alot of there strategy is based on keeping the enemy at a distance. Well since they are pretty weak physicly this makes sence against melee a WAR or a Rouge. What I was wondering is if the mages stayed at a distance who would have the advantage and if it was us and they had to come close to us do we have the edge in close combat over them?

*edit* Still in Final fantasy thought mode I used mage as a term for all cassters I forgot it was a class.

Yes hunters have the edge in close combat, they have access to better melee weapons and tougher armor. True Mages have spells to hinder both of those aspects but in a knock down drag out fight hunters have the edge.

Let me see if I get this. We dominate in ranged combat so their strategy of keeping an enemy at range is suicide against us so they are forced into close quarters combat wich while we don't excell in we have a bit more of an edge than the caster does. Plus we have out pet.

Yeah, that's about it. Though in range, Mages kill you. Sheep the pet, blast the hunter down, pet dead, fight over. What is a Mage hunter is a Shaman. Those CAN totally obliterate a caster in seconds preventing him from casting anything the whole time the shammy's bashing it down to ashes.

mage can also root you in place and get within your min gun/bow range and still be out of your melee range. Then all they have to worry about is your pet.
