What race on Horde is best for hunter?!Follow

#1 Nov 06 2004 at 3:57 AM Rating: Decent
In the beginning i was gonna go Troll because hunter seems to be a more agi. based class. but with the new racial traits i have kinda been unsure of what to go.... as of right now its a toss up between orcs and troll.

also what increase the damage of a hunter the strenght or agility?!

First, about the agility difference... it's next to zero. I know you see a difference on that chart above, but that difference doesn't scale up with level. By the time you're level 10 there's virtually no statistical difference between a troll hunter and an orc hunter.

As far as racial traits go, either would be good for a hunter. The dev team has already stated that racial traits are minor things that are there for flavor, not game-changing in the least. It is my firm belief that you will be happy no matter which race you choose, so choose whichever you like better. Are you into savagery and honor or are you more of the creepy type?

Finally, hunters need both strength and agility. Strength boosts melee damage, while agility boosts ranged damage (not as much, though). While agility is the preferred choice, since you obviously prefer to stay away from your foes, you will sometimes be engaged yourself (intentionally or otherwise), and you'll want strength.

As a sidenote Orc Hunter can only use Bow and Tauren Hunter only Gun.

I wanted to use guns and made an Orc and had to start over as Tauren again.

Maybe you can train the other skill later though, no idea.

To my knowledge, the races start with one proficiency or the other, but every hunter can train to cover all the bases.

Orc can train for guns in Thunder Bluff, and Tauren can train for bows in Orgrimmar. There is no level requirement, but it costs you 10 silver (same for all weapon skills).

hmmm is night elf hunter good idea?
and,
is the hunter something like the ranger in FFXI, uberific?
is the hunter gimped? and the: "no1 wanna invite" class?

compared to ffxi, the hunter is a ranger/beastmaster, but this is nothing like ffxi so dont expect anything like that. WoW is a lot different, and (imo...and a lot of other people's) a lot better than ffxi or any other mmorpg out there. as for being a class that nobody wants to invite, i was invited plenty of times without requesting it.

also, polearms cost more than 10s to train. the cost (i forgot how much) some gold to train them.

and now with racial abilities, orc's pets do more damage and their axe skill is increased.

Spears were combined w/ the polearm class. They can be trained at level 20 for 20s.

Stats do make a difference. My NElf Hunter had far fewer HP than my Tauren hunter and equal level. Less STR more AGI. A good amount more MP for NElf, too. NElf hunters are pretty much straight markmenship hunters, whereas Tauren was doing more damage w/ melee attacks than w/ gun.

NElf: had high AGI and Mana for stading back and loading arrows into enemy while using abilities as they popped w/o having to worry about mana.

Tauren: had high HP and STR so they could get up close and melee while being able to take hits and survive.

I love Taurens but when I think hunter I think Night Elf. I would prefer to be a melee hunter, but Hunter has the second lowest STR and HP in the game (behind Gnome). Hunter doesn't get many melee abilities and should ideally stay back while warrior (or pet if soloing) takes the damage, and fill enemy with arrows. Hunters get a ton of marksmenship abilities. AGI affects how often you Crit and I crit'd about 20% more often on my NElf than my Tauren.

Troll seems like a good mix of STR, AGI, HP, and MP. I would play it if I could stand how it looks.
