Like most people playing MMORPG I want to be the best at my class as I can.

Looking at the data at the top of the page the choice of race is Dwarf of Human.

It appears that the dwarf has the advatage in strengy, stamina, Health and Power. The human has an advantage in agility and armor.

Based on this which race would make the best paladin. Is strength, stamina and power more important? Can a dwarf make up the armor difference with the best gear?

I am leaning toward dwarf but I havent played the game and was hoping to hear some opinions of others who have played.

Thanks in advance!

Those numbers you see are the STARTING racial differences. Racial differences do NOT scale up with your level, which means that a dwarf pallie going from 9-10 gets the same bonus a human pallie gets going from 9-10. I chose 9-10 because by level 10 those minro differences will be long forgotten; the further down the road you get the more your stats come from your level and your gear.

Upshot: Race makes virtually no difference at all, barring any of the NYI implemented racial traits. However, Blizzard has already said those would be minor, so don't worry about it at all. Choose your race because you like that race, and don't worry about stats.

The stat increases from gaining levels apply automatically. You don't have the option of putting points in stamina over intellect, for example. You can manipulate your stats through your choice of equipment.

I believe the armor difference you are referring to is just based off of your lower agility as a dwarf. It has nothing to do with the type of armor you can wear. I played a dwarf paladin in beta and I could deck myself out in the same armor as a human pally. With some good equiment and the devotion aura running, you probably won't notice that small armor difference from your agility.

However, if you want to go with swords, humans have a racial bonus to swords. Dwarves have a racial bonus with guns (which doesn't really help the pally). I wanted to swing hammers and axes... like a true dwarf... so I didn't care about the sword bonus.

In my opinion, if you are worried about which race to pick due to stats/abilities, I would look at the racial bonus skills for each race over the stats. I'm thinking that the initial stats won't really mean that much in the long run. Click the link for each race above to see the racial bonuses. The "find treasure" skill for dwarves is nice. When a treasure chest pops up nearby, you'll be the first to know. ;)

I played a dwarf paladin in beta as well.

Race has no literally no bearing, other than the pretty insignificant racial traits discussed above. Pick what you think it fun, not what gives you 'leet stats.'

I played human Paladin in the stress test. I don't think race makes a really big difference. although I plan on using a sword so I'm gonna take human again. Although the potential of slightly higher hp and strength on the dwarf for tanking purposes could be good. Depending on how it ramps as you level.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

It is true that race does not effect your character statistics in a hugh way that it did in FFXI which was my initial concern.

To everyone who reads this thread with this same question:

Race differences at the start will eventually, at higher levels, be minimal. So choose your favorite race and class and have fun!

Can a Dwarf Paladin own a Warhorse?

Yes. Any Paladin Race can own a War Horse. You must be a certain level though I would imagine.
