Healer.....solo?Follow

I was just wondering if bliz really made a healer that can solo... (obviously by asking this I am not in beta) if they did THAT IS FREAKIN AWESOME.... one thing I hated about clr/WM/emp is that if you couldnt find a group you were screwed...

Priests can definately solo, as was mentioned in the above posts. As a level 21 priest presently, I have only found the need to party if I wanted to do Elite quests or areas where the number of monsters was extremely high or was heavily crowded.

Otherwise the Priest class is a pretty efficient at soloing. I myself use a combination of Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Pain as my main damage (until Mind Flay) and keep myself alive with Power Word: Shield, Renew, and an occassionally needed Flash Heal.

So far, no problems, except for some higher-leveled Elites.

Yes Priest can solo. I am a level 21 Dwarf priest and i can take on mobs my level with no problem at I usually end up with almost full mana. I can also solo some mobs level 24 and I usually end up with very little mana and about 1/2 health however there are some mobs I find more difficult usually they are Undead or Bandits with nasty weapons.

Yes, I was a level 16 human priest, I found it very fun to solo and cast buffs on everyone I saw. It was also nice cuz when I was gathering quest items, I would heal others, they'd ask me to join them, so I got more EXP and items/copper, then I'd go off when I got the needed item. Soloing as a priest is just like soloing with any other class, you have to know when to use your spells, and IMO Inner Fire and Power Word:Shield are incredible. I went tailoring/enchanting and made myself a wand, it was great for runners and it did arcane damage (great since the priest lacks arcane damage attacks). I also trained in staves because they have decent damage and nice stat boosts to INT and SPI.

My priest is level 30 now. I agree with most of what has been said. I have soloed much and I find it a little more difficult than some of the other classes I've played, especially against elite mobs and healer types. I tend to conserve mana during battle as well, which can be good much of the time if you're in a group, but isn't a great habit when you solo. It's crazy hard taking on mobs 2-3 levels higher if you don't unload your damage spells on them right off the bat.

Leveling also tends to be a lot slower for priests. Compared to the hunter I played during beta, I tend to be more picky about what I fight, soothing wandering mobs if I'm just running by. I think this is due to the fact that our battles tend to take up more time than a lot of other classes. On the other hand, we have several different strategies to use. Plus, it's really hard taking us down, especially if we have a lot of spirit.

My only disappointment so far is how useless Mind Control is at 30. You're lucky if it lasts for more then a few seconds. I even tested it on level 7 humanoids and the results are poor at best. The spell description says the spell will last UP to a minute. I've never even been close to that. I am hoping this changes for better as I level.

I'm pretty happy with the Holy talent tree. I'm able to cast most heal spells without generating much threat and cast flash heal without many interruptions. Improved Renew is also a great talent to work up. Regenerating 61 points of health every 3 seconds really comes in handy. Holy Fire is a nice addition to our arenal, but tends to work better at the start of a fight.

All in all, I get a little frustrated by how slow it takes to level (the priests in our guild are way behind everyone else) but I'm also very satisfied with the class in regards to our variety of skills and play experience. Those with patience will find the class very rewarding.

Mind control is a perfect tool for pulling/splitting camps. Solo if you find a place that has 2-3 mobs in it and are unsplitable, MC one, have the 2 kill it, and the MC mob will seriously damage one of them, then quickly finish of the second one(SW:P the second one if the damaged one doesnt have enough damage to 1-2 shot it). After that its a regular fight.

Its also pretty fun in groups if you get an add, specially if one of the adds is a healer, than you can waste all the mana you want off it before releasing it.
