White mages?Follow

#1 Jul 01 2004 at 4:47 PM Rating: Decent
Are mages like White mages's from FFXI only cureing and and a little of buffing? Or are they the like Black mages nukeing the mobs health away? If mages are not healers, can someone point me in the direction of the mostly healing class.

mage in wow mostly use fire, frost and arcane nukes, they cant even heal themselves, have to conjure food and water to fasten regen, pally, druid, priest and shaman can all heal, priest by far is the most effective healing class and can do shadow/holy nukes as well.

For Actual healing.
Priests are the best, Followed by Druids, then Shamans.
Priests have Rez.
Druids dont.
Shamans Have Rez.
Shamans use totems, that affects the party or a party of monsters or some such..
there heals are small and normally cure over time.
Druids heal basically 2 hp for 1 mana. (best heal) and like the Priest have a Group massive heal spell.. (heals 500hp for 500mana for everyone in the group, which depending on the size, can be upto 6 hp to 1mana. But that is channeling, it has its advantage, but yet, it doesnt.. (channeling for those that dont know it, you basically cast the spell while your being attacked instead of cast spell after spell bar is full. but each time you get hit your channeling gets fuller (well actually less, the bar goes backwards.. instead of forward like regular casting..))

do the WoW mage resemble the EQ mage, they both deal DMG but does the WoW mage get a pet??

Based on my play, the WoW mage can be summed up, in EQ terms, as a Wizard with minor Magician and Enchanter abilities. In other words, they are first and foremost casters of massive damage spells and teleportation spells like a wizard. They have the ability to summon food, for hp regen, and drink, for mana regen, similar to an EQ Magician. They also have the ability to cast INT buffs and mesmerize mobs, by the polymorph spell, for crowd control like an Enchanter. You asked in EQ terms so that is how I put it, but I would strongly recommend that you not think of this game in EQ terms as it is night and day different than EQ.

If you enjoy playing casters, I think you will like this class. I know I did.

I played an everquest mage for years, and was disgruntled for most of it. This game, and this class OWN.
