which characters get pets?

pure pet classes:
mage
necro
beast lord
chanter (not a true pet class, but they get a dumb pet that can not be controlled that can deal out some damage when its master is hit)
other classes get pets but are not called pet classes:
sham (39 IIRC)
clerics (50+)
classes that can charm for pet (not including chanter duh)
bards
rangers
druids
i think that covers them all.

thought rangers got a charm animal like druids only very weak? i could be off as i really dont know the spells of the ranger class well enough.
forgot that wiz now also get (as of a patch back or so) that sword pet.
