I have a problem. I just got the game yesterday and I installed everything, the PlayOnline disk and the FFXI disks 1-4. I go on to the PlayOnline System or whatever and itworks perfectly fine. Then I try to play the game and I had to download this long file as well, which i did. However I got this error message (or one reletavely similar),

"Terminated as error occured in Final Fantasy XI. Failed to recongnize hardware Tnl.
Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run Final Fantasy XI (-1)."

I ran the file check for both the PlayOnline and the FFXI game and both said no problems was found. I tryed to run the FFXI configuration setting but it appeared blank. If any one could please tell me what is wrong with my computer (or game) and what I could do to fix it would be greatly apperciated.

sound like you dont meet the minimum requirement to play and the TNL error is probaly your video card
Post your computer specs so we can rule that out.

The game requires a graphics adapter with hardware TnL (Transform and Lighting) support to run. Some of the Older Graphic Cards do not support hardware TnL. TnL can be done by the processor (in software) with acceptable performance in most cases, but since the game specifically checks for hardware TnL, it fails to run.

Also the Onboard Intel Graphics don't support TnL and will cause this error.

You will need to get a graphic's card that supports TnL (Transform and Lighting). Most of the current Graphics Cards have it. Gforce 4 MX, Ti; Gforce FX cards; ATI Radeon 9600 & 9800.

Those are some cards that should work with no problems.
