R1-12: Local Leve, Bone Ring (2 x Bone Chip), Bone Harpoon Butt (1 x Bone Chip), Copper Nuggets (4 Copper Ore or 4 Yellow Copper Ore), Brass Nuggets (3 Copper Ore 1 Zincs)
R12-15: Copper Earrings (2 x Copper Nugget), Silver Nugget (4 Silver Ore or 5 Silver Sand), Tier 1 Gem, Marbled Eye.
R15-18: Copper Ring (2 x Copper Nugget)
R18-25: Silver Francisca Head, Brass Earrings or Brass Rings. Start Brass Ring at r20 for ease of synth.
R25-28: Brass Rings or Silver Earrings, Tier 2 Gem, Electrum Nugget
R28-35: Silver Ring/Silver Needle, Mythril Nugget (4 Mythril Ore)
R35-39: Silver Chakram, Tier 1 Gemmed Ring, Silver Needle/Silver Ring, White Coral Arrowhead, Yarzonshell Harpoon Butt, anything you can get your hands on with decent SP
R39-44: Electrum Ring, Blue Coral Arrowhead, Tier 3 Gem
R44-50: Silver Francisca, Red Coral Breastpin, Tier 2 Gemmed Ring, Red Coral Arrowhead, Tier 3 Gem and finally Tier 4 Gem at very late stage.

Bolded means primary grinding synth.

Remember to save all your Silver Ingot you can get from local leve reward, you will need a massive amount as a reliable synth from R35-39 before you can do Electrum Ring reliably without hurting your pocket too much.

Try to make material (Nugget) while you still can get SP from it and save them for later. For instance, making Copper as soon as r1, Silver at r16 and Electrum at r26. Mythril currently has no use and are quite rare (Rarer than Gold) but you can attempt them at r35.

Lower level synth might be a bit off, lazy to check.

Updated 16/02/2011:
The 1.15a patch has changed SP gain substantially. It is a good idea to start doing your primary synth 2 ranks earlier than the guide if you can endure the high failing rate.

Training books that are relevant to Goldsmith synth:
Smelting, Gemcutting, Inlaying, Bonecarving, Fletchery, Nailcasting (very minimal involvement) -> can be bought from Goldsmith Guild
Bowyering (Armourclad Cavalry Bow) -> Carpenter/Tanner/Blacksmith Guild
Tacklecrafting (very minimal involvement) -> Carpenter/Culinarian Guild
Painting (Serpent Shield) -> Carpenter Guild

Sub-craft needed:
Leatherworking/Tanner -> Tortoiseshell (Optimal 25, Able to synth is 10 levels lower i.e. 15), Iron Preserve (Optimal 35, Able to synth 25)
Blacksmith -> Thunderstorm Axe (Optimal 35, Able to synth 25)

Thanks for the info.

I have one question. Maybe I just didn't see it, but what is the recipe for Silver Francisca? (I couldn't find the recipe on this site.) I know it's 1x Silver Francisca Head, 1x Ash Francisca Haft and ???? Glue. I just don't know what glue it is.

Great guide Mariya, thanks for sharing with ZAM community!!!

My GSM just just hit 28 and I'm at the point of diminishing returns on Brass Rings. This guide is a helpful roadmap for where I'm headed above and beyond the Silver Ring / Silver Needle grind.

Beyond the bolded grinding synths, the real gems are those "transition" synths that help carry you from one primary grinding synth to the next.

When are you going to release your short guide for CRP leveling? ^^

Will make one for CRP when I have time. CRP is much more simpler.

Leather buffalo strap (red) for the Chakrams are a right job to get! Buffalo hides are 24k from NPC's and sell in wards for around 10k each

You can get plenty of Buffalo Hide from leve reward. Given that Leatherworking is a Goldsmith subcraft, you would want to rank that up at some point in time. Silver Chakram is much less costly compared to Electrum Ring, as you also get plenty of Silver Ingot from leve reward.

Unfortunately for me I did a few locals to get mine up to 15 and got only 3 buffalo hides. I have around 160 silver ingots on me from all my goldsmithing quests and the thought of doing 50+ locals to reach this goal would take me a very long time because of leve resets etc. I think the best way might be for me to go farm them from antelopes or something. Not trying to knock this by the way. The chakrams at rank 35 were giving me 500+ sp per synth so it is pretty awesome! Thank you.

Electrum Ring is approximately 1-2 ranks higher than Silver Chakram, however unless you're a R28+ MIN or having one support you, you will find Gold Sand/Ore very pricey to grind on. Antelopes don't drop Buffalo Hide, Wolf or Miqo'te Poachers drop Buffalo Hide while Hyur Bandit drop Buffalo Leather. On the bright side, each Hide can make 48 Straps.

Of course! I was thinking I would be getting one strap per leather lol! Things don't quite seem as tough now :)

#14kikiofcocky, Posted: May 27 2011 at 10:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) are there more detailed and better guides? i know the game is new... but still....ffxi has a list to lots of guides.

Not really - Please remember that FFXIV has been around a lot longer than FFXI and also has seen some pretty major changes over the past year or so. I have used this guide to get to where I am now and its pretty accurate. When you say better what do you mean exactly? This guide is a small guide yes but it tells you all you need to know at the minute. Try looking at the Wiki guide section for further information on crafting.

Can I add that at about R45+ you can also do Red Coral Breaspins for very good sp. You will need to be or know a high level fisherman for this though.

Gives 600+ at r45 and 450-500+ at r46

Edit: At R48 this still gives 350-400 sp and Silver Fransisca's give around 250 sp. There is a big difference when it comes to getting the mats for the red coral breastpins though. For that recipe you need Brimstone as well as Red coral (and silver nuggets but these are easy to make). Brimstone can either be farmed (very very slow process because drop rate is not good) or made with either PyriteX4 to get one Brimstone or Yellow Copper Ore X4 to get 12 Brimtone +1 if you can HQ which is not a often as you would want unless you have the +3 mats available. The Fransisca method is definately slower but easier to do (+it uses earth shards which I have a lot more of). If you have are a high fisherman and a lowish miner then the coral breastpin method is faster.

Thanks for all the info. I was stuck at r10 and didn't know what to go for next. Everything just uses so many mats.

Thanks, I've written this list down for easy checking in the future. ^^

Also, I found the Tiny Crown synth is a nice alternative for the r15-ish range. The synth only uses one Brass Ingot (which I had plenty of) and a couple of fire & earth shards, and gives just under 500sp per synth at r16. :)

My sig comes from ZAM: http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/sigtools.html

Hold on the secondary class, as the upcoming patch 1.20 will abolish the sub-craft needed for any goldsmith recipes (except old/outdated ones which are going to be replaced anyway). If you meant a support class then MIN is the best since you can mine your own ores and gems.
