Can anyone tell me what this is used in? I've mined a lot of it and I can't seem to find its use. I'm assuming it's used in a goldsmith recipe.

If it follows the same patterns as other sands, 5 gold sand plus 1 (or more) fire crystals will make gold nuggets. Very useful for goldsmiths!

Yeah, I thought that too. Doesn't work, unfortunately.

In FFXI gold was usually used after level 50 so my guess is that it is the same here. I'd keep the sand. There might come recipes for it within the next few updates...though probably more like March than December.

4 Gold Sand
2 Silver Sand
1 Fire Crystal
Guild Gemmary
Smelting Training

= 12 Electrum Nugget

But at current price I refuse to try this as a grind. I just spent 120k for Gold Sand just to make 36 nuggets >_>

Gold sand will undoubtedly get a bit cheaper but its a ish difficult drop to get at rank 30 miner so I wouldnt be surprised if it stays around 5k each eventually

The Peridot Coblyn in Copperbell Mine drop Silver Ore/Sand so I'm pretty sure higher level Coblyn will drop Gold Ore/Sand, maybe Sphene Coblyn? Quartz Coblyn is lower level and drop low lvl ore still.
