Kind of getting pissedFollow

I'm starting to get kind of pissed off.

I'm a Rank 11 carpenter, yet on rank 10 levequests I fail nearly every single action. The highest I can get is 60% if I'm doing really good. I use all the gear I have to increase control, craftmanship, and magic craftmanship. I use guild support (I'm in gridania) at the level specified in the leve.

What in the heck am I suppose to do to complete these? Every 36 hours I'm loosing out on several thousand skill points because of this failure fest and I don't know what's wrong >.<

I use standard on white, rapid on yellow, wait on red, rapid on multi. I've also tried a stretch of using standard on multi. I use tender touch whenever it comes up. I can't upgrade my saw because no one makes iron rivets yet for the rank 8 saw. I also do half my attempts on a given leve with the main hand, the other half with the off hand since I'm not sure which is best.

The one and only thing I can think of is my 'fighting' job is Conjurer so all my points are in VIT, INT, MND, and PIE. Are you required to have high STR and DEX to be a carpenter? Because of my fighting class am I doomed to fail anything Rank 10 or higher?

Sorry for the rant =D It's just frustrating.

I can complete a rank 10 leatherworking leve at rank 5 extremely easily. I don't understand why carpentry is giving me so much trouble.

That happened to me last night. I kinda just skip it and went and rank up some other classes because if I keep going I'm just going to be even more frustrated...

There is nothing you can do about it bro, at 10 you hit a massive learning curve.. im talking like a holy flipping Niagara falls kind of massive. All you can do is now is try to learn what the hell all the different colors mean, when its bliking, when its yellow, when its red, when its red with crap flying all over the places, the thing is spining.. dont know what the hell is going on. Its like we are the Ginnie pigs (take out the like WE are..)

Better question is,
What do the colors do, how does it effect the synth and the time?
What do all the sparks mean flying all over the places?
And why the hell is the glowing thing spinning?

if you look at the item your probably trying to make an item that 4-6 levels higher on crafting chart than you are. they put the leves in there cause they are 10-15 15-20 so on doesn't mean at 10 you can do a level 15 craft item with 100% success. however you might find same leve item at 12 get a lot easier, still have to work at it but easier.

just keep at the grind and it will come.

SE released a statement on this.
The best % achieve is white, followed by yellow, then red. If you have rainbow colors, wait. Of coarse you can wait on the others colors also. You should be able to find the interview here somewhere.

Yes, I see that now.

I still have an abnormally high failure rate with carpentry than I do with other crafts. I feel it must be base stats coming into play, that or carpentry is just harder than the others. I finnaly finished the leve High Tension for the first time (Rank 10 levequest, I'm Rank 13).

It is a Silver leve, which tend to me a fair bit tougher then a bronze one of equal rank. Find even with both Fulfillment(R10 Leatherworker) and Preserve(R10 Alchemy) abilities the silver ones get much easier (still rough however).

An upgraded saw will solve your problems, as it did for me when i had this issue. At rank 10 you hit the learning curve everyone talks about, and without a tool to match the current rank synth it becomes harder to complete the synth. Not saying it can't be done, but there will be more fails.

Use this site ( www.ffxivpro.com ) to search your server for someone selling a chocobotail saw. Good luck

I find that I get really good results if I do bold when it's flashing colors, so long as I'm above the rank of the item. I got +85 quality on a single round by using bold in such a way (I probably had Fulfillment running at the time too)...

I was having the same trouble. What I've come up with is if the levequest requires level 10 then for level 10 and 11 I only use standard. Once I'm 2 levels above the recommended level then I can mess around with rapid, wait and bold. Also check to see if it needs a guild facilities and purchase the use of whatever one it asks for.

That was a really old post of mine =D

Things have been going a lot better now after they patched the crafting system, and also after finnaly laerning the true meaning of the orb colors.

White = highest chance
Yellow = medium chance
Red = low chance
Multi = Random
Sparks = More risk (as far as I know, more durability loss each attempt)
Wavy rings = chance of massive failure

I always use Masters Woodyard when doing Leve's around my level. Using Master's might help you out as well.

Check the link in my sig for my write-up on crafting. I promise you, you'll learn a lot about crafting.

Also, like someone else mentioned above, try using the rank 12 tool for your craft. I went 1-10 with the starting tool (for all my crafts), skipped the rank 7 tool and went straight for the rank 12'er. Anything 10+ with the rank 1 tool will be fail after fail with all kinds of sparks (as you've probably witnessed).
