So, I'm a veteran BLM from FFXI, and as I was picking through gear for my 30 THM (now 34), I noticed that instead of swapping staves, I can swap circlets and neck pieces for elemental boosts. So I've been trying to snag the level 28 stuff as I'm able to afford it, and then I had to sit down and figure out how to work macros. Easy enough.

Then I noticed the blinking. The same @#%^ing blinking that affected FFXI so badly, and caused the invention of a Windower plugin just to suppress it for healers.

I haven't been in too many parties yet, but during the few that I have been in... there hasn't been anyone blinking at all.

Soooo.... do THMs and BLMs in XIV bother with the gear swaps, or am I being an overachiever here? On the one hand, I don't want to show up to my next party and be a total gimp because I'm missing half my chokers. On the other hand, I don't want to be a christmas tree lightbulb and crash the rest of the party, either.

Halp! Smiley: frown

People don't use gear swap in FFXIV. Instead, you focus on double, triple, quadruple melding INT/Mag ATK/Mag Acc Materia.

Okay, that explains a lot. Is it just because the elemental accuracy bonuses are worth less than added INT?
