TargetingFollow

Hi.
I am not targeting efficiently and would appreciate some advice.
I play with a controller. I play lying on the sofa, with my keyboard on the table in front of me, where it's not ideal to get to.
I usually have the targeting set to all and either scroll through everyone, or use the mouse and click on party members names to target to cure.
I find it hard to pick the mob out of the crowd....and it never targets the mob we're engaged with first.
Doing it this way, I can't see whether I am gaining too much hate. I'm sometimes too late with a cure, meaning someone dies.....not good.

Someone mentioned there is a way to target the mob (and therefore monitor hate), but still heal party members, while locked onto the mob.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the controller; however I feel "your pain" :)

I use, and have always used a mouse and a keyboard in every online game I have ever played. I played FFXI for over 6 years; used the mouse and keyboard and macro palettes and never had the issues setting my config they way I do here.

You sound like me .. we're "healers" who know the mechanics of our jobs and can do them well; when given the right tools working correctly. We want to do them well...even in a virtual world lol!

The only thing I find that has helped me is making macros - but I even find the macro palette configuration frustrating at times vis a vis ffxi setup.

I would love to hear some responses to this because I have the same issues with mouse and keyboard.

p.s. I'm wondering if it's the use of <st> as opposed to using <t> -- which is how my macros are set up for buffs and cures etc. I find it frustrating to have to hit enter twice to confirm targets however. Selecting the "name" from our party list does help but it still seems like alot of steps; especially when trying to target the "mob" to throw out a poison, dia, etc., and then heal someone quickly also.
