OK..... I can't for the life of me figure it out.

I've been trying to come up with a macro to cast sleep, and it just isn't working out.

I have tried no-cap regular (/ac sleep <t>), Cap regular (/ac Sleep <t>), no-cap quotes (/ac "sleep" <t>), Cap-quote (/ac "Sleep" <t>), cap main-hand (/ac main "Sleep" <t>) and non-quote main-hand (/ac main Sleep <t>).

Nothing seems to be working :(

Am I missing something face-palmy? Or does the macro just not work for this skill?

Thank you for your help!

Potentially face-palmy:

Did you forget to actually add this spell to your action bar by equipping it under the Actions & Traits menu?

Otherwise I'm lost because

/aoe on
/ac "Sleep" <t>

works for me...

Your macro line should read:

/action "Sleep" <t>

Make sure you are including all the spaces, use a capital 'S' for sleep, include the quoatation marks and make sure you are using a forward slash.

Try assigning it to CTRL 1 at first for testing purposes because it is possible you have placed it somewhere that doesn't trigger it.

Make sure you have enough MP when trying to cast, make sure the mob is not too far away (it has a small range) and remember the spell can be resisted. Also take into account server lag which can on occasion make it seem like spells are not working.

Huh..

I have it equipped to ALT instead of CTRL.

Just for the sake of trying *everything*, this weekend I'm gonna try to move it to ctrl-1 as suggested, and make sure i'm standing on the mob's head when I cast since it's possible I may have been out of range.

I'll let you know how it works out on Monday. Thanks you guys!

I do find that we have to be very careful to type it exactly the way the spell reads in order for it to work properly. Although I also find that sometimes it's a "cooldown" effect for the spell itself sorta kinda.

Oh and good point on the having enough MP comment...I have learned that lesson the hard way :)

I don't know whether it's just me now but whenever im playing any jobs I just select spells/actions from the hotbar and hardly ever use macros anymore.

I only have a macro for SacIII and Cure III and one for DOM (Raging strike>Ferocity>Blindside>Murderous Intent)

Everything else I now find quicker to just fins on my hotbars. I play on Mouse and Keyboard though so this might not be the same for ppl that play with controllers.

I use macros for several things. All my buffs and Chainspell -> Raise, Siphon MP, and are mapped to keys on my G15 keyboard so I can just tap one key.

Could you give us an example macro for G15 please. I'm new to the keyboard and I preferred macros in FFXI.
I use a controller in FFXIV, but would love to use more macros than fit on it.
Cheers.
