I'm rank 9 phys 9 and i just made it to camp drybones. The thistletail marmots here are green (decent challenge) and i haven't been able to beat a single one. I usually spam spirit dart and sacrifice as needed, but when they hit me for 1/4 of my health per hit, and heal themselves, it just isnt fair. Am i doing something wrong, do we suck this bad, or do i just fail?

From what I remember (and I started in the same place as you) Thistletail Marmots can easily be brought down at R9. You just need to spam Phantom Dart between each sacrifice. They have low VIT themselves so your Phantom Dart does decent damage on them so they are not too tough to take down. On a side note to get to Rank 10 and get damnation you will notice an increase in your overall damage output on blue/green mobs. Also if you havent already bought one get a copper scepter for the extra damage (better if you get a decorated one if you can afford).

both great advice for leveling thm, pay close attention to what minsue said, VIT is highly important stat in such low ranks, personally when i was down there, i leveled all the way to rank 10 w/o using stats at all , i didnt know how respec worked and i was afraid id spec wrong, not until i met somebody to teach me about it, and those marmots became a joke.

your physical level is really low. Crafting and gathering will raise it quickly - meaning you can easily put some more points into VIT for HP, at the very least.

Hi all,

yup I agree. You need to have more levels in your physical.

I've just moved from Camp Bent (first area for Girdania) to Emerald Moss (2nd area). R8/7 Thum/Con. If not for my high physical levels (15, thanks to crafting) I would definitely struggle. And to think i was pawning the mobs at the first camp left, right centre and struggling against mobs in the 2nd area even though it/s green/blue to me.

Just to let you know, I have about 30 points in vit. They can't really kill me (unless I;m mob) but I kill slow too lol.

I'm only rank 14 THM and CON, and from what I can tell so far, both caster classes are quite strong in the solo department. As mentioned previously, it is certainly worthwhile to spend a bit of time doing some crafting, as the physical experience gained is very high (like 1k per synth).

With higher base stats, particularly in VIT and MND, you can hold your own against some pretty tough mobs. I was doing Dodos in the Drybone area at rank 9, and have been doing Aldgoats near Bloodshore at rank 14 (phys. level 26).
