macro and targeting help pleaseFollow

I think I have overloaded myself reading so many threads and now have everything so confused that I don't know if I'm coming or going. I am really slow manually deciding to AOE a spell or not, and keep getting beat on while I'm still thinking/looking where to click.

So a few noob questions: Do I need separate macros for each spell, depending on if i want AOE or single target? What does the /br macro commands do? Do I have to have a conjurer macro that lists all the spells first -- and for everyjob that I decide to level?

And, tied into all these macro questions is one about targeting. I have auto lock target selected, but everytime I hit a mob, i have to reselect it to target, can this be modified with a macro? I tried using a controller pad, but it would work fine until i got to a mob and then the buttons would remap to something different than what I had setup, so now trying to do everything via keyboard controls.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

See the threads in my signature for some really good macro info.

Targeting is a bit touchy right now, you can only use <t> and <me> and <st> in a macro.
<t> will use whomever you have targeted as the target
<me> will cast it on you
<st> will ask you to pick a target for it.

With both <t> and <me> you do not have to confirm target (i.e. select person cast then click them again or pressing enter)

As far as the AOE question, no you don't need mutiple macros for each so long as you manually control AOE settings.
If not you can configure them in the macro
"/aoe on" will toggle AOE on so you can include that before your buff cast or you can omit the AOE toggle and create two macros, one to toggle it on and one to toggle it off. Personally i don't like that approach and instead code the /aoe on toggle in the buffing macros. Makes buffing a hell of a lot easier.
