as of now, there is no way except to macro <p1> <p2> etc. It's a huge pain and I really hope they fix it. The best way currently is to just aoe heal yourself if you need to heal the glad.

Yeah seriously lame. Targeting is probably my biggest beef w/ the game right now.

after a lot of testing last night, you can't even use the <p1> to target someone in a macro. It was just a two person party and I tried to /ac "Cure" <p1> and it didn't work. I did a <p1> in chat it showed his name. So I also tried /target <p1> /ac "Cure" <t> and nothing.

No idea what to do about targeting. I miss the good ole F1-F6 targeting

From the Lodestone website

Quote:

The following placeholder commands are also available.
The only commands that can be used to designate targets are <t>, <me>, and <st>.
<r>, <p0> through <p14>, and <lastst> will display the respective name in the chat log, but cannot be used to designate targets.

Same deal from beta...it makes it very difficult to target. <ST> works but, they should allow you to cycle through the party list bar to make targeting easier. <ST> will select the nearest target and sometimes you have to target around a lot to find the person you are trying to heal and it becomes very frustrating. For now, I did what was doing in beta:

/aoe
/action Cure <me>
/aoe

This turns AoE on before the cure, casts cure, then turns AoE off. There isn't any need for waiting that I found, even though the chatlog will say that AoE is turned on and off before the cast of the spell, it still goes through as AoE. I do these for most of my buffs such as Shock Spikes and Stoneskin.

Seriously, you won't be @#%^ing happy until SE releases a full sized Bahamut avatar you can @#%^ing ride and use to kill players that annoy you, one shot AV/PW/Shinryuu, and burn the FFXI nations to the @#%^ing ground for fun. All while actually restoring mp used instead of costing any.

I REALLY miss the <st>, select target from FFXI along with the F target keys. Best I have so far is F12 to cycle through party members.

I had some good success with just targeting the tank, locking on and AOE healing straight through. The hate wasn't jumping around as much as I thought it would.

what i did was to target lock to the main tank and put cure on AOE.
so you just have to hit cure and it cure everybody around the tank.
this only works when they are around the tank though..

might bad fire when people that you want to cure start to freak out when their HP is low and start running around the shop..

See the threads linked in my signature about macro usage. Now back on topic, trough a macro you can only use <t>, <me> and <st>

<t> - Current target
<me> - yourself
<st> - select target (i.e. the game will wait for you to pick a target).

You can use F12 to cycle trough group members if you want as click targeting is less than usefull sometimes.

You can use a macro to lock on to a party member (the tank for instance) and than use <st> macros to cast your offensive spells while in group.

Hope this helps somewhat, and that targeting gets a bit easier in time.

I have F1 for targeting myself and F2 cycles through party members.

That was the closest I could get it to the F1-F6 I had in FFXI.

Aside from OP response:

What I do is currently have two rows of macros.

Alt Row 1- Cure, Stonskein, Shock Spikes, Sacrifice (Single Target on them all)
Alt Row 2- Cure, Stonskein, Shock Spikes, Sacrifice ( aoe on them all)

Ctrl Row 1- Fire, Blizz, Thunder (Single Target on them all)
Ctrl Row 1- Fire, Blizz, Thunder ( aoe on them all)

On the single target rows I just use /ac blah <t>
On the aoe rows I have
/aoe on
/ac blach <t>
/wait 5
/aoe off

This way, any normal single target attack or buff/heal is on the first row.
Anything I want to aoe, I just press down 1 row. They are lined up same exact way so its easy to remember.
