Okay so i'm building my party book where i can do the usual :

{Gather Together} {Buff}
and then I do
/ac "Stoneskin" <me>

but my question, has anyone figured out how to make stoneskin aoe right off the bat? or if I need to manually set aoe before a party.

Also another macro question...

Has anyone found a way to quick target certain party members? Like if I need to target the glad to cure, then the thau pulls hate and i need to quickly change over to him, is there a way to target each party member or am i just tabbing for about 20 minutes before i find them.

last question: anyone figure out how to set priority target and sub target? like if I want to nuke the Dodo but then throw a heal on the glad as a sub target?

Well, <p1>, <p2>, <p3>, ect. will target the members of your party according to their order in your party list if that's what you're looking for.

actually that is quite helpful. Now, can you modify the order people show up? I'm just really trying to figure all of this stuff out before partying becomes really prevalent. And hopefully this thread can also be used to help out all of the other WHM-wannabees out there when it comes time to keeping everyone else alive!

The official site has a nice list of macro commands: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/guide/macro01.html

So you would have:

/aoe on
/ac "Stoneskin" me

^^^ This. I currently use the following macro for stoneskin pre-engagement (and sometimes during):

/aoe on
/ac "Stoneskin" <me>
/wait 5
/aoe off

Even though the animation can get stuck in lag, the /aoe off applies long enough after the casting...it may not even need to be 5, but just 1-2 depending on when the server registers the single-target vs AoE status of a spell (beginning/middle/end of casting).

I have this for Stoneskin, shock spikes, cure, and sacrifice.
Only change is I use /wait 3 instead of 5 but probably isnt much difference

Makes sure you do party stuff AoE and when you use quickbar for casting nukes... its single target.
Works like a charm

I don't want to say definately not, but not as far as I know and I doubt it. Many things in FFXIV work the same or similar to FFXI, and it was not possible to switch the visual order of your party members in FFXI, so I doubt it will be possible in FFXIV since I haven't seen any obvious method.

As a side note, I never used the macros I gave you for cure targeting in FFXI. I found it too bulky for my macro set. In general I would just use the equivilant of:

/ac "Cure" <st>

On a side note, I haven't had much time to play FFXIV yet, and consquently haven't even joined a party yet. However, I would personaly shy away from using AOE cures, or any other spell for that matter all the time if enmity works anything like it did in FFXI.

the aoe buffs are for pre-combat so there is no enmity. Since i am low level, and doing levequests with just 2-3 people usually, I have been tanking conj haha. I just queue up aoe cure and pretty much spam it to stay alive. it's effective and gives decent skills if anyone else takes damage. Paladin eat your heart out XP

uhh, does a game pad / xbox / ps3 controller make targetting easier? anyone know?

I find it still difficult to target even with a controller and the lag doesn't help. As I have not been in any parties yet I can't really comment on that targeting.

I haven't had much time yet to really get into conjurer but it sounds like what people are saying is that you have the ability to "toggle" aoe off and on for most of the spells? Like Cure can be curaga? I only noticed the elemental spells being aoe on default. Does this mean you can select to make them single target as well? If so what about creating some kind of toggle macro at the beginning of a set that you can hit to select or de-select aoe. Would that work? Or does it have to be attached to every spell?

I must be doing something wrong here. I make the macro's and they work perfectly until I log out, then they *poof* never to be seen again.

I made some macro's the first time and REALLY messed them up so I removed them and was able to get the latest ones to work. However every time that I log in now, I see that first set that did not work only :(

It is frustrating enough for me to play this game (feeling like I wasted 160.00 on this game already), but I am continuing to try it in hopes that I may like it. But having to CONSTANTLY remake my macro's is pushing me over the edge here :(

Any ideas or suggestions?

this works for protect and shell:

/aoe on
/ac "Protect" <t>
/wait 5
/ac "Shell" <t>
/aoe off

my personal suggestion is always use macros for aoe spells...never turn it on manually as you'll probably forget to turn it off and aoe nuke sh*t that will rape you. seen this happen too many times.

From what I've figured out about targeting in a party is this. If you are using a gamepad, hitting up/down on the D-pad will cycle through the party list only and avoid any npc. <p1> etc.. does not target the players it just displays their name in the chat window. The macro i use to cure is as follows:
/aoe off
/ac "Cure" <t>
So basically all you do is cycle through the party till someone needs a cure then hit the macro.
Another good idea is to make a Stoneskin macro and have stoneskins up as much as possible, due to recast delay this could be a life saver. I use 2 macros for buffs, before and durring combat:
Out of combat
/p Gather for Buffs in 3
/aoe on
/ac "Shock Spikes" <me>
/wait 6
/aoe on
/ac "Stoneskin" <me>

In combat
/aoe on
/ac "Stoneskin" <me>

(may be able to change <me> to <t>, I havent tested this in combat to see if the aoe is from
my location or the targets, which would allow you to stay away from the combat and aoe damage)

Just be sure during combat you are close to all the party members when casting stoneskin or all will not get it.

I use an Xbox 360 controller. Pressing up and down toggles between party members. I think I read F12 will toggle party members too. One of the F keys:) Configure the game controller using the FFXIV config executable.

My favorite macro as a 24 Conj.

/aoe on
/ac "Spiritbind" <me>
/ac "Stoneskin" <me>
/wait 8
/ac "Shock Spikes" <me>
/wait 5
/ac "Shell" <me>
/wait 5
/ac "Protect" <me>
/aoe off

10 lines and only 19 mana to fully buff your group ^^

There is also enough time to quickly cast a heal if needed before Spiritbind wears out. Lower wait times will work but with the server lag It would miss a spell here and there and with these times I've yet to see one miss and it's pretty fluid.

This is exactly what i use with <t> instead of <me>.
I have an additional set of the same macro for when i'm messing with Thaum as i'm too low to equip all of them
/aoe on
/eaction 8 "Stoneskin" main
/ac "Stoneskin" <t>
/wait 5
/bm off
/eaction 8 "Shock Spikes" main
/ac "Shock Spikes" <t>
/wait 5
/bm off

second macro for Protect and Shell using the same process. It's a bit slower, but beats the hell out of re-equipping the ability when i'm short on points to equip all 4.

You can also see a very detailed macro guide and examples thread listed in my Sig
