I find that damnation misses or gets evaded alot. I want to increase the acc of this action but not sure which it would fall under: Dex of Piety. As its a weapon skill I would assume its dex. Anyone play with this yet?

Part of my problem is i switched to my lvl 7 conj when i hit 10 on my thm so it could be the fact its another classes tp move that is reducing its acc but I somehow doubt that.

Love my damnation (any mp back while grinding is good mp :P)

piety is magic accuracy. doesnt matter if the skill says "weapon skill", its still magical

Still not proven either way. I always leveled up DEX in sightly less proportion to PIE in each Beta I've played as I wanted to see how that would effect our 'physical' attack moves. I tended to find that DEX seemed to increase accuracy, although this has not been fuklly tested yet.

If you are using any move on any other rank unless stated in the actions description it will not have the same effect. So using Danation on your rank 7 CON would mean less DMG and less ACC and a slower recast time.

I <3 Damnation too - particulalrly the sound it makes when it goes off (scary ghostly sound) :)

Well i broke down and put more into dex and have found both my tp moves hit more often now.

as far as pie helping it I already had it quite high so spells like slow/poison would stick so not so sure about that affecting tp moves.

If Mages need DEX then I will be pretty upset, unless TP skills turn out to be non-mainstays of the class.

Mages already have to spend points in Vit (hp), int (spell damage), mnd (mp), and pie (magic accuracy).
This is less than the DoW's have to spend points in (only 3 stats).

Now the mages have to spend points in Dex as well? I'm confused, will this be balanced in some way? Because this is a large disadvantage on paper

It's not been proven or fully tested yet whether DEX affects any of out physical attacks. I have recently been testing STR and found it makes no diffrence to DMG output for Phantom Dart. As you would expect any sorts of tests have to be completed in a more rigorous way before we can conclude anything. If people tell you something 'in-game' or 'out-of-game' , unless there is testing/parsing to back it up don't read too much into it. I was oriniginally trying to raise my STR, DEX and VIT stats to see what difference they may make, but its still early days for all classes and we have not seen all the moves yet.

I think Damnation has naturally lower acc due to its power. I mean to balance the fact that Scourge or Banish deal between 1/3 to 1/2 its damage, yet they have a cast time and mp cost, while Damnation is free after using minimal darts to load TP, and gives back some MP. I mean if your stats are allocated similar to mine, then your Scourge/Banish is probably hitting and sticking 80% or greater on greens, where as Damnation is 50% to 66% or so. I think this is what will keep us Thaums from just using darts and Damnation when grouping against strong stuff... meaning its about balance and they want us to cast, but think about MP. Plus, dex clearly states physical and piety magical, and nowhere in Damnation's description states anything is physical. My theory at least and could be wrong.

For what it's worth, Damnation, and any TP move I've tested really, does seem to have 100% accuracy when it's your opening move. The way I level is grinding off of weaker mobs, so that I only need one cure after the fight. I then open up with Damnation with my remaining TP, and I never really go below 100% MP, except for the random hard mob that requires an extra heal, or two, in a single fight.

It is worth mentioning I spam "Magic Missile" only when leveling to get the most (my observation) skill/hour, so that's why I'm only burning MP on a healing move after each fight.

I dunno how true it is on being based on DEX. My only point of confusion is playing with a buddy the other night, he says he never uses it due to requiring DEX while watching me use it on my GLA for MP to Cure with. So he has no points added into DEX just due to only playing THM and CON, and when he starts using Damnation his was hitting as often, or more often than me who has a decent amount placed into DEX.

I'm starting to think you can't really increase it's Acc.

The accuracy of Damnation is just bad. It's bad on Thaum with 50 DEX and with 15 DEX, it's bad with 20 or 60 PIE. It's bad on every other disciple I use it on. It's a good ability, but I think they gimped the accuracy too harshly because it returns some MP. I use it whenever I can, but I never rely on it.

After mucking my stats around for awhile and playing for a couple hours with both stat setups I can honestly say that I didn't see a difference.

Damnation and Radiance (clones of each other) are both complete garbage.
Not only does it mess 90% of the time, it hardly ever restores mp.

I can't say it doesn't restore MP with a ratio of 1MP:20DMG, but it does whiff around a lot.

THANK GOD though it is now confirmed to just be poor accuracy based on either stats though. I can now re-allot points away from DEX.

Also completely off-topic but does anyone know what governs the damage output of Phantom Dart? Wondering if upping STR will work more to my favor on this MP-Free ability.

I did some testing on this and STR does not affect Phantom Dart at all.

That's because stats just have such a small effect at lower levels. I personally leveled up CON and THM with like 80 VIT and 45 MND, and everything else in the teens. I was just as effective damage wise as a traditionally built mage, but with a lot more survivability and bigger MP pool.

I find gear to be a lot more important than base stats. I bought a new Scepter which upped my M.Acc a good amount, along with 4 Bone Rings for even more M.Acc, and I noticed my Damnation's landing more often and for more damage, which makes sense because my new weapon increases my M.Atk as well.
