Any thoughts on what craft(s) people are going to focus on at the start? I assume that a carpenter and weaver will be beneficial from the beginning for a conjurer or thaumaturge. If ffxi has any carry over, I think that a culinarian will have great benefits from the start as well, especially if soloing.

I'm planning to go weaver/botanist to support my conjurer. I like weaver to be able to supply myself with some nice gear and botanist seems like a good harvesting job to support weaving and farming in general.

Based on my FFXI experience as a BLM and RDM that enjoyed soloing/duoing NMs a lot... I'm probably going with Alchemist this time around to make my own goodies. Decent potions were hard to obtain consistently on the AH, but food was easy enough because everyone did that.

After hearing how hard the magic classes get it at the start, from beta players, I'm probably going to go with Alchemist too.

Anyone think maybe culinarian would be a good craft, for MP or stats buffs (if there's any) or would alchemist be a better class for that?
