In all the years I've been fishing on and off I've never seen anything higher than a 0.3 and those are really rare (I'm currently at fishing 60), 0.5 is awesome!
I think I might have to look into picking up a beret my self! Just to confirm, your job level has to be 30 or below to get the skill up bonus?
Actually, I've seen .5 skillups in fishing- generally, it was from snagging something way up there skillwise. Fishing moat carp early, getting a gold carp instead and actually landing it. Used to fish off the sealine in Sarutabaruta with sliced sardines for the laughs at like mid-20's fishing and every now and then, pulling in a gold lobster or bluetail.
