Question about fishing systemFollow

Hello all,

I'm a returning player to the world of FFXI while I wait for FFXIV and even if this my first post even if I've been a long time lurker :)

I've quit playing FFXI for a long long time (around 2006) and when I came back I figured lot of things changed in the game as I could read around the net but there is something I don't think I've fully understood.

I've always been attracted by the Fishing system and in the past went all the way to artisan level fisherman, this is an hobby but also a way to "survive" and make some money... What I used to was to create one or two lv1 mule in windy/Sandy so that I could leave my main char around the world and fish for carps and such on my mules (slow but still good money and helped a lot against fishing fatigue and to get Lu shang quickly).

Now I've come back and tried to fish but I can't catch more than 10 fishes a day, I've read about the new (well old as it has been implemented in 2008...) antibot measure but which more or less says "...December 2008 Update, when you fish with a job level lower than 20, or it has been less than 2 weeks since your first log on with a new character, the maximum number of fish or items reeled in is lowered to 10 per real life day..." and I was wondering, do I need to level my mule to lv20 to have the restriction lifted? Or even if it is lv1 after 14 days the restriction will be lifted no matter the level?

Sorry if this sound a dumb question (and prolly is...) but even googling I could not find an answer to this question :( I would love to keep fishing with my mules as I always used to do, it's a great time saver for me and made it possible to fish @ the office during lunch break... I would gladly avoid to level another char to 20 if I can avoid it...

You helped me a lot... even if I did not like the reply (not your fault ehehe) I understand SE did this for bots/RMT which, for what I've seen, still plague the game...

Well I'll do as you suggested, I rolled an RDM but guess I'll just roll a MNK to be quicker to level :D

I perfectly understand this has been done for a reason, we all know I guess, but yet can't see the sense of it all...

I mean when I used to play FF it was plagued by Gil sellers (or RMT if you prefer) but at laest I was not receiving 100 tells a session with strange stuff in them of RMT trying to sell me Gil, PL and Viagra for my char (whcih is a Mithra btw O.o).

Again I find this plan stupid as RMT will continue to stay there, bot and do whatever they usually do while we "honest" players will pay the consequences of this all, sorry for the rant but it makes me frustrated as since I started all over again even my main char is still 18 and bringing another to 20 is not that fun for me :)

But well they make the rules... Anyhow Fyn for your input which I found valuable ^^
