Right about 50 the skill-ups slow way down. It's not the target that's causing the problem, it's just the decreased rate in skill-ups.

Synthing gold ingots can almost be a break-even synth, which you can do until 54. As you get closer to 54, the skill-ups will slow more. However, this leveling of goldsmithing starts to get expensive, and I always preferred slower skill-ups while maintaining a bank rather than burning through 10k per synth on things like gold chains.

Once you're past gold ingots, you'll have to target some gold rings, earrings, and hairpins for a while. They all average about a 10k loss on Asura, so pick your poison. It'll ease up a little when you can start targeting Platinum Ingots (61), which actually synth for profit on Asura.

The real question I have is where are you taking goldsmithing? Are you just capping it at 60? If so, you really have to decide if there's a target synth out there that makes this move worth it. If you're taking it to 100, welcome to goldsmithing **** and enjoy the pain. Smiley: smile

Synthing gold rings and earrings until 58 or so isn't a bad route. They sell at a decent rate to high level goldsmiths because the HQs of these are hardly worth synthing anymore (unless you really want a blue box). Once you're high enough, finish to 60 by synthing platinum ingots which should be break even or maybe profit.

I skilled up on gold ingots till cap, then tried to bridge the gap to platina ingots by doing a few levels of Hydro Claws. I made the needed Claws myself, thus skilling up on Blacksmithing as well, so it was double gain.

NPC the Hydro Claws for an acceptable loss.

Gold ingots, like others have said. Be careful about when you buy materials and sell ingots to swing profit/loss as much in your favor as possible. Get your shaded specs ASAP, as these will help you jump to platinum as early as you can. Don't forget that platinum sheets sell fairly well, so you can get two skillup synths out of one batch of materials (ore/nugget/coin -> ingot -> sheet).

Depending on your subcrafts, you may also find hosodachis to be viable at times.

Once you cap at 64, you'll be doing platty earrings or rings mostly. You might also try shotels, possibly even break-synthing them if your subs are at appropriate levels.

could always get synth support and start plat ingots at 53.

This is going to probably net the same, if not more, loss as the alternatives... the upside being that the product (the stuff that doesn't bewm) will sell a lot faster and take up a lot less inventory.

The best way to pass this stage is to have a high level (100+3+3 for rings, 84+2+3 for earrings) goldsmith work out a deal. Have him synth all of your gold rings into level 54 rings and your gold earrings into morion/phantom earrings, splitting the profits in some way. This may not be an option for you but I have worked out such deals with friends (me being the 100 goldsmith).

I've done it 2x now too 60, once to 61.

Whenever I cap gold ingots I start synthing platinum. With Adv support breaks are not that bad atleast in my opinion.

I did goldsmithing at a time when it was much more expensive it was worth it to take the risk on platinum instead of other routes.

Platinum Beastcoins only after capping gold ingots. (61 cap)

Unless you want to spend a really long time on this stage, I wouldn't advise this route. The coins drop from the orc/quadav/yagudo 21-24 hour pop NMs in their respective strongholds, or can be stolen from one of those oldton movalpolis gobs that has 1 or 2 spawns and repops at around 10-16 minutes. For these reasons, the coins don't pop up on the AH very often. Unless you had ben saving these coins for quite some time, exclusively using this recipe is going to take forever.

Ingots to 54, then gold hairpins to 58. Make the hairpin (wind, gold ingot) then desynth it (lightning, one ingot). Yes, you will break some which hurts but unless you just have terrible, terrible luck you can bridge those 4 levels using far less materials and no waiting on the AH.

Platinum nuggets are rare on my server so doing that would take ages. I'd mix and match platinum when available, the hairpin method above, and mythril cuisses.

When I did this, I began gardening Platinum Nuggets in the early 50's, and NPC'd Hydro Claws to 57 (making my own Claws). Then I started Platinum Ingots using the Nuggets I been gardening. I made enough profit on the Ingots that it mostly offset the losses in the 50's.

The platinum beast coins can be stolen also from mobs in Vanadiel[S]. But still... the demand is indeed bigger than the supply.
