What days to desynth on?Follow

Just got back into this game with a new character after about a 4+ year break. I remember and have since reread that conventional wisdom is Lightsday and the day the crystal being used is strong against generally mean Less breaks less HQ's, where as darksday and the day the crystal is weak against means more breaks and more HQ's. My question is, does this apply to desynthesis as well? I always assumed so, but recent results have sent me on a search for more information on the subject.

For the record, the results I'm referring too...

Leathercraft - 35
Smithing - Between 34 and 45, it leveled as I obtained Iron ingots.

Desynth item - Leather Belts
# of Desynth's - 600
NQ - Sheep Leather
HQ1 - Sheep Leather
HQ2 - Iron Ingot
HQ3 - 2x Iron Ingot

I didn't record the ratio of HQ2's to HQ3's, but I'd approximate it's close to 50/50.

400 Belts used during all non Darksday/Earthsday days.
512 crystals used (1.28 Crystals per belt)
179 Sheep Leather(.4475 Leather per belt)
102 Iron Ingots but (.255 Ingots per belt)

200 Belts used during Darksday/Earthsday
269 crystals used (1.345 Crystals per belt)
98 Sheep Leather (.49 Leather per belt)
12 Iron Ingots (.06 Ingots per Belt)


Anyway, I'm aware no sample size will ever provide a definitive answer, but I assumed I'd get more Iron on Darksday with more breaks, and it seems to be the exact opposite. Has anyone else experienced similar results?

Nothing that applies to normal synthing seems to apply for desynthing. Skill level doesn't work as normal meaning you can HQ1/2/3 pretty often without breaking tiers. I'm no expert on desynthing (or synthing) but I wouldn't bother too much with days since you can break a lv 1 desynth at 100+3 and HQ a lv 10 desynth at lv 1 etc. If I had to choose I'd stick with light/lightning day.

Desynthesis usually follows its own rules, so the day theory may or may not apply.

Even with regular synthesis, no one has really shown significant evidence that the day theory works.

There is no correlation between days, but I always desynth on watersday. I was in Boyahda Tree one day waiting for my turn to do SCs to unlock a weapon, and decided to desynth the many pauldrons I had in my inventory.

I ended up going 14/17 on darksteel ingots, so I just stuck with that day. It was all random luck, but it's not like I desynth a lot right now anyway.

Desynth on Tuesdays. It makes about as much sense as any other hairbrained "day-of-the-week" theory.

This was exactly how a lot of these theories started back when this game was new.

Sadly though everyone else is right. Desynthesis sucks, hard, no matter when you do it, and the luck involved makes it that much worse.

Desynthing can suck my left nut. Isnt it great how we all dump hundreds of hours and millions of gil into our respective crafts only to have the simplest desynth blow up in our faces?
As for moghancement: desynthesis...it doesnt hurt to have but i don't think its very efffective...maybe increases success rate 1%...maybe. I do alot of desynthing for various crafts and some days i'd desynth tons of steel/iron ingots and even more bronze (with smithing @32)from gob helms/mail...and then some days i'd have to go thru half a stack of lightning xtals to either lose the item or get a NQ result. Frustration beyond belief.
Anyway...if you're planning on desynthing alot...be patient and goodluck.

I prefer to desynth on lightningsday or windsday (depending on crystal). Not for any HQ rate mods, but material loss rates.

Not that I go out of my way to hold onto beastmen gear until the right day arrives though... if I need the inventory room and I got crystals, that stuff is going to burn one way or another.
