Today at work, i was most bored.
So i decided to invest a little bit of time in creating a cost analysis for synthing squid sushi.
Costs:
Earth Crystal: 1000 (12)
Tarutaru Rice: 3000 (12)
Gigant Squid : 3000 (1) (x12 = 36000)
Rice Vinegar : 120 (1) (x12 = 1440)
Wasabi: 1945 (1) (x12 = 23340)
Water: 10 (1) (x12 = 120)
Total cost for 12 synths:
64900
This brings each synth to
5408.333
- Breakdown of possible results:
NQ = 6
HQ1 = 2 (+1s)
HQ2 = 4 (+1s)
HQ3 = 6 (+1s)
So to produce 1 stack of NQ needs 2 synths.
Assuming the spread of HQs is equal over all 3 results, the average HQ result is 4 sushi.
NQ Cost = 10816.67
HQ Cost = 16225
Now.
I am skill 100. This is a Lv70 synth. This brings me to 30 lvls over cap. However, irritatingly to break into Tier II requires 31 lvls above cap, and so my current HQ rate is 10% while in Tier I. (I'll recalculate for Tier II after)
- Breaks
Assuming a fixed break rate of 5%:
Using my Tier I of:
NQ = 90%
HQ = 10%
The adjusted break costs are
NQ = 4.50%
HQ = 0.5%
due to their frequency.
The cost of breaks results in:
NQ = -243.3
HQ = -27
Bringing the cost after breaks to
NQ = 10573.29
HQ = 16179.95833
The Auction House
The price on the AH is 9000 for NQ, and 21000 for HQ.
Margins
This brings the margins to
NQ = -1573.29
HQ = 4802.04
So using the NQ/HQ split, brings the respective profits to
NQ = -1415.9625
HQ = 480.2042
So the toal profits after 12 synths is
-935.75g.
Before AH tax.
The cost for a stack is 0.5%, with an initial tax of 200g.
Woo...
So.
Lets now assume that i'm skill 100+1, pushing me into the Tier II.
Now i'm adjusting several values, but i'm obviously i'm keeping the costs the same.
The NQ/HQ% has now shifted to
NQ = 70%
HQ = 30%
My break % has now shifted to:
NQ = 3.50%
HQ = 1.50%
This brings the cost of breaks to:
NQ = 189.29
HQ = 81
Bringing total after breaks to:
NQ = 10627.38
HQ = 16143.875
This shifts my margins:
NQ = -1627.38
HQ = 4856.13
The split profits after is:
NQ = -1139.1625
HQ = 1456.8375
Bringing the total profits over 12 synths to
317.675g
Slightly better.
Oh wait.
-0.5% AH tax and the fixed -200g.
Ah.
This shows what a thin line the crafters ride on who buy everything from the AH (& NPC).
The whole reason for me making this detailed analysis of squid sushi, was because i'm now fishing, and i've started to catch Squid, and i was investigating what sort of profits i'd make if i were to synth it. And the results aren't promising. I'm almost better off just selling the squid to hopeful crafters looking to squeeze such a tiny profit margin.
