I'd like to add

sheep skin >>> sheep leather
lizard skin

orcs, yagudo, goblins, quadav (every little bit of gil helps), later on giants

EDIT:

Also like to add funguars drop dark crystals... a must for a starting out leathercrafter that likes to keep things cheap for a profit.

Grain seeds from saplings can go from 40k to 20k. Drop rate isnt the best.

Beehive chips, I HQ these for Beeswax, 40k a stack.

Flint stones, I'm currently lvling up on these and making glass fibre, which go into prism powders, which sell for 25k a stack.

Sheep leather, made from Sheepskin sell for 25k if you synth them at lvl1(or 2) leathercraft.

Just a side note, I believe this thread was to help the newer players out (the ones between 1-40). So most of them are not going to have higher level alchemy at their disposal.

Turning the beehive chips into Beeswax probably is not going to net you very good gil considering you need to 3 chips, water, and a fire crystal until you can reliably HQ the stuff as you noted (as you progress higher into alchemy). You will net 4 beeswax per stack of chips and hence will "spend" 45K (plus crystals) to make a stack selling for about 40K (depending on the prices :-)) You're also not going to be able to turn Flint Stones into Glass Fiber until you reach level 61 in alchemy.

Sheepleather and grainseeds are nice tips.

Legomike has compiled a neat little list. I wish I had this when I was starting out.

You can also steal Saruta cotton from the pygmois in Tahrongi Canyon. A stack of those were going for something like 20K. Stealing is probably more reliable than the drop (but then again, my treasure hunter is broken, I swear). And while you're in Tahrongi you can be farming them bees for honey/chips and the occasional crawler for silk. If you level leathercrafting to the 20s you can also make dhalmel leather from the hides of the dhalmels.

Another litle tip that is sort of related. Saplings also drop vegetable and herb seeds, which can be used to grow your own fire crystals. Brass pots you can buy from a NPC in Bastok Mines for ~1000g.

Herb Seed + Brass Pot = Bay leaves or Fire crystals
Vegetable Seed + Brass Pot = La Thaine cabbage or Fire crystals
For both: Feed Water crystal

I used to try to only plant, feed and harvest on Waterday, but results seem random. From 10 pots (which is the max your Moogle can handle), sometimes all I'd get is bay leaves, or my very best harvest was 153 Fire Crystals. Now I just plant and feed on random days. One thing though, don't harvest on Darksday. I always seem to have very bad results when I do. Could be coincidence though. Try to harvest on Waterday if possible, seem to get the best result from that. It is also worthy to note that Herb seeds get "ready" faster than vegetable seeds, in terms of feeding and harvesting. I try to checck my plants twice a day.

If you're wondering why Grain seeds go for so much, it is because they are used to grow Tarutaru Rice, a essential ingredient in sushi, which is often sold out at the guild very quickly.

Grain Seed + Pot (I used Brass) = Tarutaru rice or Lightning crystals
Feed: Earth crystal

Planted, fed, and harvested on random days. It is important to note that grain seeds die very quickly if you don't check them often! Faster than any other seed if I recall. So if you try them, check them often.

Forgot about the Wild Onions. A useful ingredient for cooks. You can also sell treant bulbs (primarily in Bastok for Alchemists) for couple thousand. Every little bit helps.

Umm....30K a stack, not per thread, I believe.

As for Wild Onions you can also farm them off of Goblin Thugs in the Horoto Ruins. They go for something like 10K a stack on Garuda.

YOu can also turn your sheepskin into sheep wool if you'd like to continue leveling leathercraft after you cap at 2 from leather. 1 WIND (which are super cheap now) + 2 sheepskin will take you to cap 4. And it sells not bad at the AH. Haven't looked at the prices lately.

Sweet looking guide ya made there. I would also add

Dangruf Wadi
Gaint Grub
Sulfur - As an alchemist I used to go there and farm this stuff from Grubs and they drop quite offen.

Pashow Marshlands
Crawler
Silk Thread- Be patient. 30k+ - I suggest this because if you farm near where the NM Bloodpool Vorax spawns (E-5 - F-5) There are quite afew Crawlers that pop around quite afew Leeches. There are also the bee's on the way into the spawn area. They drop honey and beehive chips quite offen. The malboros drop vines and some niffty band that sells for like 3k. The NM (lvl25) has a nice drop rate on the Bloodbead Amulet. It sells on sylph for about 20k.

Pash. used to be my farming grounds. If you follow the narrow paths on the sides of the zone you will find quite afew bee's, malboros and fungars. Fungars drop sleepshrooms, danceshrooms and woozyshrooms. If you follow the path near the Bloodpool Vorax area you can make a nice run. Go up the path kill the bees, fungars and malboros then head to the bees and fungars near the path to the spawn area nd kill the crawlers and leeches and run back and repeate. Thats what I used to do. It made me quite a bit of money.

You forgot to add Saruta Cotton. Can be stolen from Mandragora in E./W. Sarutabaruta; Pygmaioi in Tahrongi Canyon; Sylvestre in Buburimu Peninsula and it drops in Tahrongi Canyon and Buburimu Peninsula. Currently this item sells for about 18k or so a stack on Alexander.

Something else to note is when farming in zones with an Outpost and it is in control of your home country there is a Merchant NPC there that you can NPC stuff to. Or in the case of Bub. Penn. there's plenty of Merchants inside of the nearby Mhaura.

You forgot Funguars of various levels:

Ronfaure: Rare, but they exist.
Fort Ghelsba: a Lv10 can solo these NP, they rate EP.
Jugner: a Lv40 can kill these np, might have to rest too much though. Lv45+ recommended.

They drop (and you can steal from them) Sleepshrooms which go for a decent amount too.

Also, if you go Raptor Farming, BEWARE of Waraxe Beak, that NM that can spawn near the raptor area. That will absolutely flatten you.

RDM=30 WHM=20 THF=14 MNK=10 SEE im still a noob

Forget Pashow Marchlands. (At least on the Quetzlcoatl server) Lowballers are ruining the game. Can't even get a decent price for bloods, (I heard they were over 100k once) and now that everyone and their brother/sister are POS hacking into the zone. It, well, is just plain bad. Freaking RMT's or tards selling Maple Sugar in Windy for 1300 per stack. That's just insane.

If you're level 50 or higher, please go somewhere else.

Nice tips, but everyone seems to want instant gratification and fast gil, and there's no such thing. Have patience, do some work and quit whining.

Well, that's my rant. Do your own homework, find your own way. Go kill something. And for Pete's sake DO NOT SELL FOR LESS to sell faster. It hurts all of us.

When I started playing this game. I would pretty much solo each job from 1->15. I would try to keep as many inventory spots free to collect every drop to either sell or craft into something else.

Also soloing enabled me to accumulate many beast seals >> 16 stacks of beast seals atm (I'm too lazy to do bcnms atm). So in the future, you have the option to do bcnm for (hopefully) some nice drops for either resale or for usage.

For the first 1.5 years of playing this game, my highest job was whm36. I was mainly a crafter + fisherperson + helm activity person; and consequentially, you don't need to be super high leveled to begin to accumulate gil for the future.

Take care, and good luck on your farming.

add a "be patient" on marlboros/ochus etc. I think the nerfed drop rates on both tentacles and headbands. they used to drop much easier than they do now. Raptor skins i think too need a be patient, as i rarely see them sold.

in carpenters landing, a "be patient" on flytrap enemies that drop flytrap leaves. They do infrequently but the leaves vend very high. Carpenters landing also has tigers, beetles, fungaurs, and thunder/water elementals. Its often never camped, as opposed to the other zones, and can be reached easily from jugner or even northern sandoria.

There needs to be a caveat however. A lot of these items sell very low, on my server, often under 1 or 2k a stack. If you see something you want to farm from this list, check the price on the auction house first.

Just wondering if anyone can help... I farm a lot for my gil and usually around East/West Saruta.

The amount of drops I get seems to increase and decrease quite a lot, especially on crawlers, so i was just wondering if the time of day or what day it is makes any difference or if there are any dependencies on the moon phases. If so when is the best time to farm for certain things.

I'm a level 15 thief, are there any places in particular i should farm to get a good gil per hour.

Thanks for all your help guys and a great post. Maybe it would be helpful to put come levels against the mobs so low levels don't fight the wrong things.

Wow, wonderful guide. Some things I would like to see would be drop rates with no TH, TH I and TH II. Nice job, rate up!

legomike, I don't know if you want to add NM easily soloable but Spiny .. is
a nice bonus for farmers of silk, wild onions, beechips and honey in East Saruta.
It's right there in a good farming place and is worth watching for.
