Thank you Eruntalon for working so hard on this, it's an honor to continue this tradition.

If any of you have updated guides, links that need fixing, or anything regarding crafting that you think should be added please pm me ^^

Looking for a tradeskill or crafting guide?

Below is a list of links to the best tradeskill and crafting guides and related posts on Allakhazam, plus links to a few resources on other sites.
Please read from these before posting on a particular topic.

NOTE: Some guides listed are out-of-date or won't apply to your server. That's OK. They are meant to be guides ~ suggesting a path to take ~ not
step-by-step spoilers. So please use good judgement when deciding how this information applies to you. Happy Crafting!

Can you add Gourry's guide to the Smithing Section?

Hitchhiker's Guide to Smithing. 0-100

I find his to be more up to date, and have more useful information then some of the other guides. Also, his is in a nicer printable format. Thanks!

Most of the fishing guides are outdated due to the latest major update and all the recent patches.

A while ago a guru posted this fishing guide:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=24&mid=1111740020415258220&num=70

The content and formatting are both great, and as far as I know it's the only current fishing guide on this forum, you should definately check it out.

Kat, I'm curious, why are only allakhazam recipe lists linked here? If I'm not mistaken we had at least mysterytour links as well in the past. We should definitely include links to somepage and ffrecipe as well.

I think the reason is because mysterytour was down for a while due to maint and changing of layout... During that time, the links were dead... Don't know if the links themselves have changed since then, I think they just need to be readded...

MistressKat,

Thanks for stickying the Vanadiel Cookbook v1.0.

v2.0 is now out and I'd suggest stickying that one instead. It's a superset of the original and has a *lot* more info in it.

And no, there aren't plans for a v3.0 anytime soon. I just burned out doing v1.0 and decided to post it until I got the second wind to finish it (v2.0).

I do cooking, and I have used these guides alongside food effects lists as a template to skilling up. As a black mage, I leaned toward foods that I could use, particularly MP and INT pies, refresh drinks, and that sort of thing. When I wanted to make a lot of skillup, I would pick a food i thought should sell fast. shortly after the food overhaul, where mithkabobs were deposed from their seat of glory, I thought it was a good idea to start making other foods; boiled **** dhalmel stew, and the like. the 3 hour foods were more appealing to me, but they didnt sell nearly as well (or at all, immediately after the update, before many had learned about what changes had been made). What i ended up doing, is standing in jeuno, shouting what food i'm making, and how it could be better than mithkabobs, and offering to explain to any interested parties. I'd refer to the ffxi.cannotlinkto listed stats, explaining what base levels of attack one would need to make best use of my food, and looking up the most effective food for anybody's particular base level. I found this method of educational advertisment to work to my advantage, and thought i might share it. dont worry about cutting into my sales, because i'm done skilling up on those, and i dont think taking any more of a hit on the sweet rice cakes is going to hurt me too much.

Just wanted to point out (due to the popularity that it is having due to Azimuth Circle) that the Clamming post linked to in this topic is very very out-of-date and lacks a lot of information. I would like to see a new one listed, and would recommend linking to my post unless there's a better one that I overlooked somewhere.

Not sure how often you update the links in the sticky, but here is something to consider for addition.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=24&mid=1122982401245752305

That is a post I made about how to make the new aquariums... Pretty much I break everything down into the base components so people know what to look for.

Orriginally it was in the FFXI main by mistake (wrong tab in firefox) however I have reposted here and edited the FFXI main thread to move all comments to the thread here... I am debating whether to ask an admin to nuke it or not, but hopefully it will fall off quick enough.

Hmmm, if no one minds, can anyone by any chance put up a list of ALL the items that can be bought by each guild, and I guess it's functions would be cool too and price? Seems cool to me cuz then I have a better idea of stuff I may be getting in the future. Like this furniture stuff I've heard about in some posts. If someone has already done it, sorry I missed and I'd be greatful if someone could point the way to it :). Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, and if you think my view of this is unique, don't bother. Just think some others might like it too.

I, for one, would be very grateful =P.

Over at my clan's page we have a few things that you may be interested in using in this compilation of links:

* Essential Gardening by sam/vismaior (me)
* Beds, Bath, & Beyond overview of moghancements by Raprot/Meretrix
* Cooking for fun and profit by sam/vismaior (me)
* Elementary My Dear Watson overview of elements by sam/vismaior (me)

We have several others (woodworking, clothcraft, fishing, etc) but none are really complete enough that I'd suggest adding them to a list like this.

After taking a look at that, it isn't that great imo. All they do is "steal" the info from sites like alla and re-arrange it a little. They didn't even edit it or check it for accuracy. It has a bunch of level 999 caps in it too. While it is certainly easier to print out, there is nothing there that makes it better then the listings here or on other sites.

This is a great sticky for guides and information on all the crafts and stuff but wanted to point something out.

Were in some serious need of atleast an updated Goldsmithing guide cause the ones up there are dated 2004? like wow.

It's pretty hard to "steal" public information. I made those printouts for myself and my LS because not everyone uses a Windower and can just look up recipes while still being logged in game, but decided to be kind and share it with others. If you don't like it don't use it. I'm not some website out to make money like somepage or mysterytour with their gilseller ads plastered on their sites. We're just an ingame LS, and I happened to make a website for us to share information and chat while not in game.

Notice, I wasn't trying to pimp myself with shameless self promotion either like you are with your done million times over cooking guide. Someone else posted a link to it.

BTW, have you checked the accuracy of Alla? They have a lot of mistakes too you know and it isn't like an admin here goes and talks to every NPC in game, it's all user submissions. Alla has a lot of (---) level caps too, I just chose 999 so the stuff would show up at the end of the list since it's unknown.

You're entitled to your opinion, but don't try to paint me out as some "thief" because I used other websites to get my information. If that's the case, I guess all those other websites are thieves too since none of that information is copyrighted by them and is taken from another source. In my original post on this forum posting a link to see if anyone who might want printable lists would be interested, I cited my sources and reasoning since there were inconsistencies and missing information across all the sites.

Considering the age of many of these guides, I think it would be useful to include the date of the last edit of each guide next to the link of the guide itself, so that we can get an indication of the relevance of the guides without checking each one.

Many things stay the same (most things should be personally researched regardless), but it could save us all a little time to for those things that don't.

Some of these fishing guides seem a little outdated, sense a lot of the stuff in them I can't even do.

I'm a level 12 fishermen and I want to level up while getting Lu Shengs fishing rod, are there any recent additions?
