Sorry, new to FFXIV...trying to find out how to type the macros for the WS like "trunksplitter"...is this automatically performed when I am attacking, or do I need a macros for it?

You don't need a macron for it if you slot it on your hotbar. However, a guildmate of mine found this link if you do want to make a macro:

In case you don't want to follow external links, I can give you an example. Say you want Trunksplitter set to action button 3 for a macro. The line would read:

/eaction 3 Trunksplitter

You do not need quotations for single word actions. But if you want a two-worded skill such as Red Lotus set to action button 4, it would read:

/eaction 4 "Red Lotus"

To simply move them around yourself, go to Actions & Traits in your menu, click the action button you want something set in, and then click the action you want in that slot.

Hope I helped, and feel free to ask any more questions you may have; best of luck.

If you'd like to make a macro for Trunksplitter (for instance), it would go something like this:

For current target:
/ac Trunksplitter <t>

If you'd like to switch targets:
/ac Trunksplitter <st>

I personally like to use the <st> targeting method for all my actions, as it allows for flexibility in case you are up against multiple mobs. It's especially nice for tanking, when you need to keep enmity up on more than one target.

Note that when you use <st>, once your macro has finished executing the action, you will continue to be engaged to your original target.

im a big fan of gear-swap macros too. in this case, i have two, one for my combat classes, and one for my crafting classes.

/equip main "Bronze Labrys"
/equip head "Copper Barbut"
/equip legs "Sheepskin Subligar (Grey)" (color and capitalization both important if it has a color)
/equip hands "Dodoskin Wristguards"

wint posted a good guide containing all the contextual inputs for various slots, but its all pretty intuitive (l.ear, r.ear, neck, body etc.), so check that out if you have any other questions. its in the main forum somewhere, or just search for "macro guide".
