I'm sensing a trend here. Smiley: smile

Everything seems to be coinciding with my initial suspicions:

So the common themes that I'm seeing involve controlling/increasing/expending HP and TP. I'm trying to figure out what sort of roles Lancer might naturally fall into using such abilities. I get the impression of Lancer naturally existing as a sort of hybrid DRK/SAM that is constantly expending HP in order to bolster attack power or increase TP, then absorbing it back again with Life Surge. Then tack on the Collusion ability for some minor hate control.

I do wonder...have the "HP consuming" properties been removed from Ferocity and Invigorate? That'd sort of kill the DRK-parallels.

I'm also excited about these:

Lv36 - Diversion

Lv46 - Line of Fire

These (along with Collusion) should greatly help our ability to solo/duo. I'm really liking what I'm seeing here, and I see a lot of potential to mix and match with other classes to help bring out Lancer's strengths.

Lancer looks strong. I heard beta reports that their kill speed is lower than pug and marauder, but hopefully thats not the case.

That very well may be, but I'll happily trade some DD ability for more utility in other areas. Here's to hoping that our unique abilities (read: ones that do more than just damage an enemy) help to make Lancer desirable.

I don't know about Invigorate, but Ferocity was costing me 20 HP per use in phase 3 of the beta.

Ah, thanks. Perhaps it's just an incongruence then. Guess I'll have to test it.

I'm with you there, I'd much rather classes have utility and DPS, that way they don't get outclassed when something consistently does more DPS (like DRG was compared to MNK/DRK/SAM in early 11). I'm really into the melee buff aspect of lancer, and thinking they're going to be a must have class for tougher group content.
