Reasons for loving Lancer Follow

I've always been curious. Usually people like taking up 2h swords or a Great Axe, or hell even a scythe to use, but the vast majority don't like lances. I was wondering why the lance took up some people's fancy, because I'm on the fence of either Gladiator or Lancer.

Cheers :)

I like lances. Always have been a 2h polearm user in every game I've had the option of playing.

I'm more interested in what seems to be the most support-oriented melee class. Lancers could wield summer sausage and Irish whiskey for all I care and I'd still try it.

Leave the whiskey to those drunks over in the Marauder forum. If we're playing a support class, I don't want to have to be supporting myself on my lance when I'm supposed to be supporting my party with it.

I've been looking at some youtube videos of Lancer, and it seems like we definitely put out more damage than them. Maybe there was a significant level difference between the different characters?

I've always liked lances. Guess I appreciate the practicality of the weapon. Its always struck me as sleek and efficient.

...plus swords are so cliche :P

hahaha you know, now that you say so, I'd have to so you're right, they are cliche. I was on the fence between Lancer and Gladiator but now I'm definitely leaning more towards Lancer and curious about Pug

I didn't really like lances at first but I have always been in love with 2h weapons. I think my love for the lance started in either FF tactics just because that job was so powerful and could attack all over the map with the jump abilities, or Legend of Mana which to me was just the most visually beautifull game to me at the time and constructed at the time (to me at least still is). Using lances has always seemed more like a dance and since then I've been in love with them. Freya was my favorite party member to use. I like that it is pretty much a staff with a sharp edge/point. Soul Calibur i always used Kalik(I think his name was, guy with the pole). I just like poles and spears just because it seems more pacifist than anything else in games. In FFXI I did lvl Drk to 75 first just cause it was a bad-ass, and scythe although very different felt very simular. Like the spears counterpart -slash vs pierce. But I did lvl Drg to 75 which sadly was more of a pain in the ass than Drk. I couldn't stop playing with Drg. Drg was #1 to me but everyone always wanted a Drk over a Drg which really upset me. Then I lvled Brd... -.- you can guess what I was in partys and LS events all the time.

I've decided. I'm gonna be a Lancer/Marauder/Pugilist/Botanist.

Lancer being my main :)

I made a Lancer because I wanted to make a character similar to my OC I write about in stories. He is a spear wielder, and so I decided to bring him into the XIV world, since in XI I made him a Dragoon.^^; Plus, lances/spears are just awesome! :3

Ditto. I get the feeling we're going to be poked at by the old "Dragoon haters". Meh.
