Race: Lalafall
Gender: Male(not sure why this matters :P)
Home: Gridania
Was a taru and home was Windy in ffxi. Also was a tank in ffxi for awhile. I think it looks funny seeing some1 who not even 1/5 the mob size and other ppl could pick you up and use them as a humen shield.
Gridania because I like the forest feel just like windy.

Mi'qote (Mithra's with shields were hot in FFXI. Remember the one that blocked the orc's attack and did that backslash attack for the pwn in the opening cinema?)
Ul'dah will be my home. I feel of the three it's the grittiest place and the harsh conditions would ready me for battle. Going to choose Seeker's of the Sun too since.. I'm in a desert. I can't hide under a rock all day, it just wouldn't make sense to me to be KotM.
I'm hoping they have some sort of blemish feature. I'd like to throw a vertical scar across her eye if i could and white that one out with the eye color system. Tan skin , not super dark but fitting with the hot desert sun. Thinking dark hair to give a sort of Gypsee look.
Any other Glads out there have plans?

I'm pretty sure I'll be trying out gladiator at the least, and it's reasonably possible it ends up my main or 2ndary job.
I didn't discover that I loved tanking in FFXI until years in, and that's unfortunate. This time I'll know it from the start.
My tank will be Roegadyn race and seawolf tribe. Part of the reason is I love the appearance of galka/roegadyn. The other part of the reason is as a thf or healer in FFXI I loved being able to locate the tank so easily. They look the stereo-type.
City - Limsa or the Desert one. I loved Bastok, and each place has something to it that reminds me of it.
It's not related to gladiator, but I'm also interested in pug class, and I feel the roegadyns look like beefy boxers; they're a safe bet for me.

I played a Taru BLM to 75 and then a Galka SAM to 75. Both were amazingly fun. Taru was clearly more in demand for endgame.
For me, the main difference was in exploring solo. The Galka could {Run Away!} succesfully and but the poor Taru was face down in 2 hits.
If I had it to do over, I would have played the melee class first, and learned the ropes on Galka, then palyed a Taru after I knew my way around a bit.
This time, a big red stompin' Roegadyn from the get go. With a defensive/tank role instead of DD. Hopefully the Gladiator will be as revered as the mighty PLD.

I will choose a male Hyur (probably Highland Hyur) as my race. I was a 80BLU Taru-Taru in FFXI. After playing through XI, I realized I liked playing melee jobs more than mage jobs. I got a little tired of looking at my little Taru with a dagger sized great-sword. I'd like to be Hyur so my gladiator will look the part or a tank.
I will probably get some negative feedback from what I am about to say :D. Not that it matters, but, i'm going to make my character black. In real life I am a little white guy, but I think its great that they added different skin colors to XIV.

I know what you mean, I was sad to see how "cute" my character was in FFXI on my taru. I would get a Hauberk and go woot! I cant wait to wear it and see how cool I will look. Only to see that I am cute and cant see any detail in my new expensive piece of gear. So this time I am going to roll a Hyur so I will have something cool to look at.

Mine is going to be a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te from Ul'dah. I played a Mithra in XI and I plan on sticking with their newest incarnation in XIV. Going Seeker because I like the idea of having cat-eyes, and I like their skin tone/hair color options better than Keepers. Ul'dah just because I like the desert, and I think a Seeker of the Sun would feel more at home there. :)

Full sword and board, my friends.
I was a War/Nin back in XI, and was a total DPS by the end of things...I miss my Juggernaut...
Still, until I get a DPS I like...or can honestly turn my Glad into a dominant DPS, I'm looking forward to being a shiny Meatshield that can actually do damage...>cough< pld >cough<

Well I was a Samurai for 6years XD a good 90% no matter what event. So probably going to persue a look much like one -.o And hello to anyone who remembers me from Cerberus Server.

Hyur Highlander for sure, my very first character in FFXI was a Elvaan but then I forget what happened but I couldn't play the game for like 2yrs and lost my character. But when I came back with newly found knowledge of the game I decided to make a Hume cause I like having mp whether my job is subbed or not.....lol.
I like the look that Humans have, generally look great in everything. I'm hoping to find some way to make a Paladin in this game, was always my favorite tank class cause they had a millions ways to get/keep hate heh. Not sure where I'll be from, but probably a nice woodsy area similar to Sandoria. And hopefully be as far away from anything resembling windurst or limsa limsa... @#%^in' hate taru cities they all talk like retards and everytime I see one I wanna kick it.
