I love the idea of having huge axes. Eh. That's pretty much it for my reasons. ^.^; I guess it's also because they seem to be slightly undesired compared to the other classes.

I can't imagine what else I could combine with Marauder other that Gladiator. Hmm...

Well yeah I know this isn't a thread about races..but jeez, I still can't decide on my race. Everything looks good to except the.. Galka? (Sorry forgot the new name xD) I'd like to look cool with the Hyur and Elzen..but then I'd like to be a tiny cute midget of a Lalafell. And who could resist being a Miqo'te. I don't need to explain the last one. T_T

Something about a Roe of some sort. I like the barbaric look of the side model of hyur, the male only one apparently, I think there should be a female barbaric version as well :/

Hyur Highlander Marauder.... provided they give them some decent hair cuts. There is no way I'm playing a character that looks like a stoner hippy on roids....

Hrmm.. I completely forgot about the Highlanders with no females. Where the hell did they hide their women? o.o;

Well, If there isn't going to be any race specific Passive traits to worry about.. I think I'm shamelessly going Miqo'te. Anyone gives me shiz about playing a female character, then I'll blame Square for not giving me Male Miqo'te. >:I

Nothings better than a Miqo'te with an enormous weapon. ^.^ Marauders FTW

Every time they leave the cave we clobber them with our clubs and drag them back by their hair!

Actually planning on Highland Hyur myself.

Back on topic. I don't think I'm going to main Marauder, at least for a while, but I'll definitely be playing it some. They have some very nice abilities I'm going to want to exploit. Roar!

im looking forward to making a marauder, and if all things fall into place, turning the marauder forums into something like the war forums from ff11 (aka home of the AWESOME).

Should we just petition Pikko to rename the Marauder forums "The New Mead Hall?"

Apparently they're forced to stay at home making babies and pot pies. I'd have loved to see some barbarian women, but strong women seem anathema to S-E for some reason. No girlkas and no female highlanders.

Edit:

Is it bad that I put in leave for the 22nd through the 27th of Sep? I'm even thinking of bailing on a cruise I was being dragged out on next May and making it a full two weeks (save me a couple grand too I'm sure). As much as I'm looking forward to swinging around an Axe again, can this really be considered a good use of vacation time?

It has been ages since I have geeked out on a long gaming session...

lol thats pretty hardcore man! I'm sure the game can wait for you to have your holiday :) I'm lucky with my job and time. I work offshore and work a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off schedule. And once a year with holiday i get to have 6 weeks off :D :D

Hmmm I can see where you're coming from. Still, if the first week is going to be full of maintenance, updates taking forever, crashes, maybe even the billing isn't working properly, etc. then it might be a very frustrating short vacation.

galka has a good point. no matter how smooth things may become as the beta progresses (and from what ive experienced its been pretty smooth) there are always always ALWAYS launch day/week growing pains. if it lasts less than a week ill be thankful, and pleasantly surprised. but im expecting at least one week, maybe two (hopefully no more) of rough sailing after release.

id say take the vaca and just enjoy yourself. if the game is stable, great, crank out some quality gaming then.

I think this is probably what I'll end up doing. I know I'm taking the chance on if game will hit the ground running or stutter about first. Can always throw some food on the Grill & call up a friend or two. Its been great ever since my sister started her little personal trainer thing at the house. Almost every afternoon she has a group of people over working them over and then lounging by the pool.

Did I mention my sister models (boxing/kickboxing, race tracks, cars & trucks, ect...) and is an all honors society college girl. All her "trainees" tend to come from her modeling gigs and classes.

Makes having to maintain a pool every day worth it...Smiley: sly

youre sister wouldnt happen to be single and interested in slightly geeky guys with a deeply rooted bloodthirst who derive a great deal of enjoyment out of splitting heads with large axes would she? im also GREAT with kids (think those viking dudes from those capital one commercials, only slightly better hygiene).

She does have a boyfriend of like 4-5 years. Don't lose hope though, he screws up a lot and every now and then get's close to getting the axe. Sadly if he get's the axe then I lose access to all nice tools and free labor (body guy for Cadillac). Sure he can be a little slow at time and has no real motivation other than work on his truck and then go wreck it in the desert. He's damn good at fixing said broke sh*t though.

Ah well, I don't mind. Good luck but be warned, she can throw a punch.

hmm....i have some minor mechanical aptitude myself. spend 1-2 days a week at my dads shop helping him with all manner of mechanically related things, from removing engines and transmission to breaking down, cleaning, and putting together the stuff we take out. course, this is all old porsche 356's, so stuff doesnt necessarily translate, but a cylinder-based engine is more or less the same base thing regardless of the manufacturer. if it was a rotary, then we'd have a problem.

cant do crap with body work tho :(. ah well. a man can dream.

I want my Miqo'te to have nice looking armor or clothing, but from what I've seen and experienced*, the Marauder's armor is kind of unattractive. Maybe it's just that outfit I saw, but it certainly doesn't look like a Miqo'te thing to wear.

Marauders generally will wear heavy plate right?

* Yes. That's right. Ex-per-i-en-ced.

currently hard to say from what i can tell you. all we know for sure is that marauder and lancer are designed to be a specialized melee attack class, with marauders excelling in AoE and lancers excelling in attacking from a reasonable distance but still being in "melee" range (my guess this grants a kind of defense bonus, such as being out of range of certain PBaoe's).

marauders may well end up with plate-style armors, but they could just as well end up in a lighter chain or scale style. i think its fairly obvious that plate-style stuff will be the realm of gladiators (the designated tanky types) but the rest of the classes and what they wear is largely speculation (save pugilists, which wear light stuff and supposedly can serve as more of an evasion style tank....keyword being "supposedly" of course).

I look awesome ;). I'm pretty sure I read somewhere not here or linkable that Marauder will be in the heavy armor realm.
