some beat ifrit already, i saw someone wearing ifrits harpoon. it looks awesome! not sure if they were the first to do it, but its cool nonetheless.

Lot of people starting to get him beat, the fight itself isn't as hard as the server.
Quite a few in our LS walking around with weapons but the biggest obstacle to overcome is the server disagreeing on where you are standing.
You see a pit of lava on the ground, you move out of the way, 3 seconds later the blast hits you because the server thinks you're still there.
Unlike WoW, where if you get out of the pending eruption, you survive, in FFXIV if you see a crack under you there is a decent chance you'll get blasted just because SE server interaction is poor. Once you get used to it though, it becomes fun. When they fix it, the fight will likely become trivial.
The other issues is, unlike other MMOs, if you use an action your character gets frozen until it completes. You can cancel spells but you can't cancel weapon skill animations. So in WoW if you use an attack you can keep walking or jumping, in FFXIV you have to time your abilities in relation to ifrits to make sure you aren't frozen.
IE if you know he uses a WS every 15 seconds, you wait for his to finish then blast him then pause knowing you'll have to run soon. Doable, not ideal :D

yeah, not long after i saw that guy with ifrit's bow, i started seeing ifrit weapons everywhere, lol. but still, congratulations!
