Greeting FFXIV players of Besaid ^_^.

Before I begin, please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Marc - also known as Locrine - I'm looking to join FFXIV around the January 2012 timeframe... I know what you may be thinking, "OMG why are you talking about this already, Locrine?" Well you see, I'm currently stuck in the middle of Afghanistan, due to my current career in the USMC Infantry... However, during my downtime, I usually sit around and crush numbers/watch videos pertaining to FFXIV (Yes, I'm a bit of a theorycrafter)... I was once in love with FFXI, and many of my friends have moved to FFXIV and are awaiting my arrival.

Now, onto my real question... I'm wondering if anyone else is looking to join around the time, would be interested in starting a new character, and the reasoning behind this would be me wanting to start a static (for at least 1 class per person). We'll all start at one, and only level that character when the others are on... Now, due to statics being a pain to control, I'm thinking this should be a duo or trio, but I'll be willing to work all the way to a full party.
My playtime when I get back in the states will be a good chunk of time, each night... I'm sure I'll find myself leveling sub-classes (for abilities) and crafting while my static partners aren't on... One thing I'm completely against is leveling ahead when you're a part of a static... Times will be worked out accordingly, I just want to get this message out so maybe I can start meeting people... I'd really prefer if everyone played on their 'main' so that we can also keep in contact and always ready to get the static party started.

I also plan on creating a linkshell, maybe not just for the static (I was a bigtime sky/sea LS leader in FFXI, a Corp leader in Eve, and a hardcore raiding guild leader in WoW.) but that's besides the point.

Right now my plan is to play a Gladiator... I've crunched numbers on Stat Allotment, been looking into which subs I would need and feel I have a pretty solid grasp on the mechanics due to help from friends currently playing, forum posts, and just straight doing the math...

Please, contact me if you are interested... The best way to contact me would be via email, so we can begin meeting each other and start to grow our friendship to further it once we are ingame... That email address is mf3rr0@gmail.com

Anyways, Besaid - I look forward to playing with you all and hope I can start a good static and LS!

PS: Sorry for the wall of text.

The game will be different in January (if things go as planed), but here's some advice if most of the content stays the same. You can solo from 1-10 within a couple of hours. Then you'll want to do what's called behest from 10-20. Do this with a few jobs before you do a static. Most active linkshells already have statics going. It mainly consist of doing leve's, but that's expected to change sometimes soon. If you start playing before they make leve's solo you'll want to static doing leve's. If they change it before you start playing, then you have the right idea with a party static. Hope you enjoy the game.

Pre-welcome to the game and server...

To be honest I think that arranging a static party 5 months in advance is a bit of a stretch. I can see that since you're not playing at the moment you're trying to get involved in as much FFXIV as possible without actually playing but this I think is too much too early.

Maybe you can take the time and lurk around the many comunity forums/sites and check LSs which might be good for your play time/stile, keep an eue on updates, player rsponse to class change and job introduction...

Hey there Locrine!

For the most part, I have to agree with what Hugus said as a whole. There's still a long time between now and when you've predicted you'll start playing.

Square-Enix is planning some major re modifications to the game (as I'm sure you've seen if you've researched as much as you claim)for the very near future, so it might change some of your projected data for later down the road. But, I really do hope that you stay this excited for the game because it really is headed in a positive direction! Hopefully by January a lot of the major issues will have been worked out and you can really enjoy.

As Hugus said and I certainly agree Pre-Welcome to FFXIV and to Besaid!
