The Desperado BotsFollow

#1 Feb 09 2011 at 9:10 PM Rating: Decent
Caught The Desperado botting in the shroud this evening from 8-10pm CST(23-24x,16-18y). Does this excuse sounds familiar?

Any more proof may be requested in video. Need time to compile and format though.

Call me naive but I find this kind of witch hunt revolting...
Botting or not, this should be reported to SE not announce on forums.

Personally I don't start rumours but if a character is mesntioned that I have my suspecions I add them as to let other people know. Why?

The Desperado, because of what I have seen in game and heard here is someone who I will not willing interact with. Maybe is my naive side but maybe other people will act like me and this can cause other players to stop abusing the game or using third party software.

If it were TRULY a witch hunt, I would agree. But since the 6 year old excuse is both sad and pathetic, even if it were true (honestly who would have their 6 year old child sit around and do the same damn thing for hours on end? Do any of you KNOW what a 6 year old is even like?), and SE isn't doing anything about it, we have to sort of police our own.

To be honest, if I had any doubts about this guy using bots this was dispelled after watching this video.

The thing is, will "his" LS act on it?

A moot point in my opinion Hugus.

I really can't understand botting in a game with the following conditions imposed, at least for the forseeable future:

  • 1. I assume, much like XI, we are all locked on this server for the next few years at least. You can't run away from your reputation and start fresh
    2. Gil is worth next to nothing anyway. So wheres the benefit?

  • All I can see is you're taking a risk of becoming a social outcast on a game you (one day I presume) pay to play. Great, you have level 50 jobs.. and lots of gil.. but you have no friends and get constant abuse. If I wanted that, I'd just play Fallout - exactly the same, less the abuse and the fees.

    Just an update.

Spoke to the LS leaders, and yes, Desperado is being removed from our shell. Once we find him.

Vile/Ruin considers itself a very respectable shell of many social players who like to work together as a team to achieve their goals. We do not promote any form of cheating, period.

Hopefuly SE does something about bots like this in the near future, some of them are getting out of control and makes certain peoples progress very questionable(i know there are alot of jokes about me being a government computer program cuz of how much i am on and leveling, but at least I earned every level the hard way). Videos like the one lyle put together can only help SE do this as they see exactly how these bots are operating.

Easy to see that from my previous posts I'm all in favour of this measure.

I just hope that this will make more people like him to think twice about going down this road.

Hey, currently been on the hunt for him since before this video was aired due to some other issues.. But I can't get in touch with him or find him. When we have spoken in past, before all this drama and accusations, he always seemed like a really nice guy, very polite and whatnot..

Although, once he told us about the 6 yr old thing, and I witnessed for myself how he goes into the zombie ignore mode, I started to get a little suspicious myself, I was wondering if I should be getting in touch with child services or task force, so I just did a customary report to the task force, figuring "hey, if he is guilty, he will get caught, if not then all is well." giving him the benefit of the doubt.. But the problems concerning The Desperado is just out of control at this point.

Only one thing I'm wondering about, in the video it almost looked like he was talking to you in say mode (font color changed) What was that about? Was he confused about the mobs being claimed or something? It looked like he was wishing you luck hunting, or someone within the vicinity. (I clearly see him running up to the mobs and that part is weird..)

I don't know, the whole mess is one of confusion to me.. But if anyone has leads on where he is hit me up.

I realize you guys are being serious in this thread, but just to add a little levity, the title of this post makes me think of Bender in a cowboy hat.

Personally I have no experience with bots but what I think it's happening is the script identifies a NPC close by and moves the character to it and then tries to engage. Since the taget is engaged by someone else he's then prevented from attacking it but still follows that same target untill it's dead and the script goes back to looking for another or to it's pre-determined route.

I think that if there was aperson behind that character at that time they might have staied on 1 mob but not more than that, even the whole adjusting a fraction so he faces the mob seems weird.

Yall should also consider is that just because a bot is running, doesn't mean that it can't be monitored by the player and that they can chat while it is running.

In other news, finally made a crafting bot video. Enjoy.

How do you expect to remove a bot from a LS? I'm sure people he will just be more "clever" with their excuses from now on.

Bots arent always afk, they do come on now and then.
If you come across one its easy to boot them.
Or if they are actualy around, you can ask them to leave(which is what Desperado did on his own).

Remember if they are never on...how did you recruit them i the first place? There has to be a person behind the account sometime

If anyone wants to see how crafting bots act visit The Hyaline (7,6) in Limsa Lominsa. I call the bridge between the Hyaline and Thundersquall Thundersticks "Bot Bridge".

They are all bots and I think the same person is controlling them all. They craft Shards all the time so I'm guessing RMT controls them. Makes me never want to buy any shards, the price is probably controlled by this guy.

There is RMTs in Final Fantasy?! Gosh didn't know that! I think you will find that RMT help keep the prices of shards low, since they will always put same price/slightly lower to sell faster. This in hand stops people highering the shard price, jus stopping inflation(Some FFXI players might remember Xmas inflation). :)²²²

I do; still regret not selling my Tatami Shield for 11M & buying a Hauby. Six months later, the shield dropped to 3M.

IMO the inflation of christmas 2007 (I think) was just that, RMT selling loads of Gil to people who then started using it to but equipment, probably from RMT as well, as as such inflated the cost of things server wide (HADES).

As such don't tell me that RMT actually helps..
    #26 Mar 09 2011 at 11:17 AM Rating: Decent
I think you will find RMTs was creating gil FROM NPCs inside the game, where as right now they are putting gil into the game by buying the fishes from NPC. Also 99.9% of RMTs in FFXI was either cooking or Alc nothing else since it was a pain to level for the vast amount of people. We will more than likely see how shards turn out once the first hit of ban waves appears and the gillies get banned. I'd put my money on them going it. :)
