Hello Besaid! As many are aware, the Role-Play Coalition acts as the central hub for role-players of Eorzea. We try to keep the community united through providing a central location for RP linkshell advertisement, RP event promotion, and a place to share RP related needs with others. One of the ways in which we intend to keep the RP community united (and have closer ties with non-Rpers as well) is through something we call the “Epic.”

The Epic is basically a large-scale storyline that encompasses the entire server and brings everyone together to fight a common threat. The Epic will unfold through various scheduled in game events and offer an engaging and evolving storyline over the course of several weeks until it reaches the exciting climax. It will also be possible to RP the Epic outside of the scheduled events due to how it will be set up, allowing for numerous subplots.

The Epic is something that (to my knowledge) no other RP coalition has ever offered on any other MMO. So we’re very proud to bring this new concept to life and hope that it will set the standard for future MMO RP coalitions.

Even though this is primarily for the RP community, we hope that non-Rpers try to involve themselves as well. Various events may require “NPC” management, something non-Rpers would be perfect for if willing.

While a story arch has been decided upon, the details are still being hashed out. We’re not sure when the Epic will begin. It depends on how quickly the committee can work on it. Our next announcement will hopefully be a teaser site that contains necessary info on the theme and start date.

We’re very excited about this feature and hope for the support of all of Besaid. For information about the structure of the Epic, please check out the newly posted topic at the RPC.

Warm regards,

Castiel Mavanix and the Role-Play Coalition

As a non RPr this would be something that I would like to see and even take part if time schedulle allows it.

If you arrange an event "server wide" please let us know and ill see if anyone in my LS would like to take part in!

I wish there was open PvP in the game. Hard to RP a bad guy in these conditions :/

Agreed. It'd be nice if FFXIV was a little bit like .hack//G.U...

Anyway, I think there is one major problem with having a server-wide "epic" like this, Castiel. Look no further than the /say chat during large RP events. It's very headache inducing.

You would be well off figuring out how to approach this so that the text progression is managed best.

Agreed. So far it seems I encounter the same people/linkshell using /say for RP'ing over and over so thus far the solution has been simple: temporary /blist. Obviously that's not a feasible option for such a large-scale undertaking.

My suggestion would be an Epic linkshell? Pearl up all participants for the event? Otherwise give the community a fair early-warning beforehand of the date so we can at least filter /say to "off" that day. Many headaches saved, Excedrin's stock does not increase ;)

As per the structure of the Epic posted on the RPC, this won't really be an issue. The events will be started via custom made guildleves that will ask participants to meet in a particular location (somewhere away from populated areas as to not annoy anyone). Following that gathering, the participants will be divided into small teams and given their own individual missions.

There are more details about it all in the link in my original post ^^
