This game is like crack, I get lost in time when I am digging holes. After a marathon grind last night I got some more diamond. I decided I would tunnel straight down the mountain next to my house, and jeez is it taking some time. After about 3 hours of constant digging I am only about even with the roof of my first mine shaft. Which means I have another 100 or so levels to dig out before I hit bed rock.

On the bright side I have been able to interconnect all of my outlying properties to a main hub. I have access to my house, my spawn point "beach front resort", Mine Shaft A, and the Mountain Dig Site. As well as connections to my overhead defense platform which currently spans my home to Mine Shaft A, with Stairs to the base of the mountain.

I have so much cobblestone atm however, the mountain is yielding a ton of it. I think I am up to 2 full chests of the stuff, so I may extend the defense platform to cover to my spawn point. (even though I am connected underground). I was also thinking of building a giant tower on the next mountain, so I could see my house/area from the top of it. Could also fix up my underground connections as they are losely based on cave systems, I could enclose them into a proper tunnel dumping a bunch of cobblestone in the process.

Once I get my diamond stocks relatively high I think I am going to dig out all my structures so they are not surrounded by grass/rocks and you can see the sheer size of my little community. I think once I do that I will post some screen shots of my massive "home". In fact maybe I will post some screenshots of before and after so you guys can get a feel for it. I just don't want to run the game, because if I do ill get side tracked and be playing for another 5-6 hours.

I think we've all been at that point before, RDM. My love of Minecraft has waned a bit - real life just takes too much time, and Rift is a lot more interactive so I usually play that. While I like wolves, I'd really enjoy new blocks in the game, as well as furniture, new enemies, weather, etc. Every time a new patch comes out I get all excited... but it's usually just one or two features being added and the rest is just "meh" for my style of play.

The one thing that does motivate me is seeing a new structure and going "Oooo... I want that!" For example, I made a massive dam and lake, a project that took several hours to complete (and is technically still ongoing, as I didn't finish the base underneath it. I've made a volcano base, a really cool tree house, a massive tree (that came out poorly in the end) and an underwater base. Really what I need to do is pretty everything up - right now there's just random hubs of things, and nothing close by to each other. What would be best would be making roads to everything.

The only other things I really want to make are a hollow mountain, a massive nether base, a GOOD giant tree, and a water-highway.

Well I just completed my skyway, so all my bases are connected both underground and overhead. The skyway allows me to shoot creepers zombies and skeletons from a distance then collect their loot. (or wait till the sun comes up and watch them burn.)

I am still breaking into the game I think ive had it maybe a week, and it is only the Alpha Version (cracked for free offline play) so I missing on a bunch of crafts I think.

After building my skyway, and even covering all my flooring with 1/2 step blocks I still have a ton of cobblestone. So I think I am just going to build a massive tower off my skyway and see if I can reach the ceiling. Also fixed some cosmetics ive been meaning to do. I wanted more windows so I did that, I also wanted my various stations in my mine shafts to be made from glass, so the skylight at the top can shine all the way down. (if anyone has seen the series on Youtube X-Cave or something its similar to his mine tunnel.

This game is relentless in time sucking. I literally opened it to snap some screenshots, which i still haven't done, and got distracted by a new cave system, and then I forgot about screenies, and went to work on cosmetics. I want to make a water moat around my base as well that flows into several collection points, so when I kill mobs all their loots flow down stream for easy and quick collection. But im sure Ill be distracted by shiny blocks and not do that lol.

Edit for some pic links

http://s1029.photobucket.com/albums/y356/mageoholic/mine%20craft/

in album
- the mountain tower
is the tower i built to house the mine shaft i am making right through the hear of the mountain. From the top to bottom, it is considerably wide, and getting very deep.
(pic taken from my skyway north)

- the complex
Was my first base(house) and slowly expanded in several directions. Id say a good 75% is still burried (to the south pic direction) under grass, and a few interior floors. It is about 4 levels and ties into the skyway, the spawn hut, and the central hub. One day it will be mostly excavated.

- the spawn hut. I spawned at night one time and quickly made a house of dirt, I later returned and remade with wood and added windows, it is connected to the central complex by a tunnel, the skyway, and is a short jog to the door of my first house (located in the complex) comes equiped with a workbench, a dual chest, and 2 furnaces for smelting glass.

- mine shaft 1
This was my first serious mining adventure it started under the lights of the sun via my huge sun roof, it is smaller than the mountain shaft in square footage, but is already at bedrock, there are several floors I have yet to explore. The entrances is located in the central hub, and as such is connected to everything various ways.

- mt. Shaft
This is my current mining project, a nonstop grind to the bottom of the world from the highest point near my home base. Currently it is just about at the initial starting point for mine shaft 1 so there is plenty of ground left to dig. It is about 2 times larger in square footage then mine shaft 1, and has various connections to the complex, including an underground connection to the central hub, and a sky way connection.

There is a cave system that connects floor 2 of shaft 1 and floor 2 of mt shaft that I need to map out. This will allow me to travel a bit faster through the mountain if I can find the location, and could also serve as another center for a 3rd shaft in the future. Provided I can dig up to daylight relatively easy as sun roofs are the cats **** when digging deep shafts ive found.

This is the lava chandelier thingy I was playing around with. It doesn't put out nearly enough light and takes up a huge space. I've been thinking instead of using that, I might make troughs along the base of each room and fill them with lava instead, sort of like the Deep Roads in Dragon Age. I finally got around to building a more direct route to my mine entrance in my house. It took an hour or so and probably would have been three times that if I didn't have the flying mod. Speaking of my mine, I've been experimenting with TNT to try to open things up for easier digging. I didn't realize that the stuff falls when activated, so the lava down there has started to spread quite a bit. It looks like Minecraft version of hell down there now.

Seems weather is being added in the next update Smiley: lol Right now they have rain/snow/lightning. Rain will water crops, put out fire, and make wolves shake off droplets like they just got out of water.

Well, that'll be a pleasant change! There are several other things I'd like to see...

-A magic wand/staff. Make it shoot fire like a ghast's fireballs.
-New gear types. How about the ability to make bronze? How about a shield?
-Furniture: tables, chairs (sitting!), lamps.
-Enemies: Dragons were promised, bring them on! Sea serpents would be great too. Horses would be nice alternative transportation. Birds that fly and roost would be great, rather than just chickens. Heck, a pterodactyl or something you could fly ON would be awesome. And I still want Ghasts to spawn in the real world. How about some ghosts? Smaller than ghasts, immune to everything but fire?
-New blocks: Mirrors and magnets would be great. Mirrors could also potentially reflect lights or lasers. Concrete would be a nice new block from mixing gravel and water.

Tons of other ideas, but that's my wishful thinking Smiley: tongue

You should play Dwarf Fortress then :)

Minecraft is kinda like a major publisher mainstream take on dwarf fortress. Scaled down significantly, far less complex.

Seriously considering jumping on to the paid version after trying the Alpha. So much awesome in this game. Considering I have about 300 flints and have nothing I can use them for. For some reason I can't make arrows, so I think its either glitched or the craft isn't available in my version (which I can not upgrade I don't think.)

1.5 next week!

We were aiming at releasing 1.5 this week, but no. There’s been significant feature creep (we’ve got powered rails now, and lightning hitting a pig will turn it into a zombie pigman), so we don’t have time to get it out this week.

But next week!

So apparently weather has been implemented, and things can be struck by lightning now. Powered rails was a surprise.

More or less everything you mentioned already exists in mods, which is where the real bread and butter of Minecraft lies.
Let's face it, Vanilla MC is pretty lame nowadays. Like you mentioned, updates barely add any content any more, and they come out once every two months. I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with Notch, but luckily, there's around 500000 mods that fix all that.
Some of the better mods I've seen so far:
-Mo' Creatures - Adds lions, bears and other animals, but more importantly adds Horses, which you can ride (and fly on) and breed to create BETTERER HORSIES! Sadly, this mod hasn't been updated for the latest version, and I don't know if it will be. Hopefully, someone takes it upon themselves to update it.
-Mo' FOODZ - Adds a ton of things like bananas, peppers and more things you can 'farm'.
-More Ores - 'This mod adds a total of 37 new blocks and 73 new items to Minecraft;'
-More Creeps - Again, adds more mobs. Nothing too special here
-Dragons - You guessed it, adds Dragons. Also, you can fly on them.
-IndustrialCraft - Adds like 5 bagillion new recipes all revolving around industrial stuff - Electricity, automated diggers, lazerbeemz, etc.
Fairly sure there's Mods that add shields/wands as well, I just haven't really bothered to try them.
Hope that helps ^^.

I might have to dust the ole' MC off and pick it back up again. So glad I bought it in early early alpha.

I miss my giant chicken.

I would love to have another multiplayer server with no item spawning allowed, I feel like the item spawning corrupted the simple Mine and Craft idea of the game.

I have started a new single player game. I just powered through 6 Stone Picks digging underneath my house and all I found was about 12 bits of coal. I was disappointed to say the least...

I made myself a new world, and the place I started making a home on has a dungeons just a few blocks underneath. But my game keeps randomly freezing, not saying any changes I made...

Who had their base blow up? I seem to recall that happened before we closed the shared servers and required a password. I hate griefers >_<

This time there won't be TNT unless they kill a buttload of Creepers. There will be no item generaton, but unfortunately there will be no protection from fires as well. Try not to build your bases out of wood, or in a tree.

I left a trail of torches to our cottage, the chest inside is free for public use, and feel free to build any additions to the cottage or mine underneath if you want to. I want to see how it ends up with people adding to it unplanned. Lots of caves all around the base of our hill as well.

Login name is minitalon. I keep getting lucky and no one picks it on any thing I have to sign up for.

That and I usually only use lava for decoration not for killing things, that and marking where house is. For explosions, only my stuff and not more than probably 1 or two blocks. Will never use against players and i havent made a player trap yet at all.

...and in. I started to build a castle type structure out in the water just behind the spawn. So far all I have done is the floor and three block wall for the entrance of the structure. It will eventually extend out into the water fairly far and have towers and whatnot, but for now it's just a safe place to stash my stuff. I've got some Iron and some sticks in a chest in there if anyone needs it. Just leave me the stone, I'm going to be needing a lot of it.

I modded the server to accept High Res texture packs. The one in the pic is the Emperorr's Texture Pack. You may want to use this HD Texture patcher before applying texture packs.

I can't find a texture pack that I like. A lot of them seem over done or broken.

I'm a fan of Minecraft Enhanced myself. I run at 256x256 and it looks pretty good.

...and my house is coming along nicely. I died while working on the roof so it's not done quite yet. That and I still need to patch up the front wall. I had it in a stair step fashion to get up top, but ended up filling in most of the roof without bothering with the wall. I did step back to take a look at it and saw a creeper spawn up on the roof, so if there's a giant whole where the pyramid used to be, that's why.

Shaow, is my login still good? I may hop on, if people are logging in again. Maybe. I can't seem to focus on any one game at the moment. :)

Mind adding me? I promise not to blow anything up.

Believe me, that's a hard impulse to fight.

Minecraft name's the same as mine here: IDrownFish

We need to recruit some people. So far Ikkian is the only person I've seen in the game, and I'm the only one to build anything of significant size.

Belkira, your login is still good. IDrownfish, I'll have to add you once I get home. If you see a guy named Sixtyvolts on the server don't worry about it.

I would also like you guys to make a bunch of signs to mark your current construction areas so we don't have conflicts. A sign is one wood rod in the center of the bottom row of the crafting table, and wood boards filling the top two rows.
