I recently acquired the original original trilogy, free of any ridiculous added CGI or ninja edits to try and change the characters. And holy **** am I nostalgic. They really need to release remastered originals on BluRay/DVD. I don't want weird added alien creatures. I don't want Greedo to shoot first. I DEFINITELY don't want any **** Hayden Christensen.

It's also reminded me how badly I want to start playing TOR again, lack of time be damned. So I'll probably be picking it up soon.

So... How has everyone been?

Remove the muppet musical number from Jedi, please :(

I have a weakspot for Jedi & after years of disdain for the multiple cashgrabs re-releases I like to think that my hatred has ripened and matured. With that maturity has come a boiling hatred of the scene in Jabbas palace with the poorly animated cgi muppets. Bordered only by the addition of the unneeded "NOOOOOOO" at the climax of the movie.

Both Aldous Huxley and Ray Bradbury had very well written commentaries on the fact that once a creator has let his creation loose on the masses that it no longer theirs in a sense. If I was a tad more incensed I would mail those articles to George Lucas, weekly. Like Andy Dufrense asking for funding for his library in Shawshank..... /grumble

Busy. Stupid master's project. God why did I ever decide to pursue post-bachalaureate education? On the bright side, my chosen profession has a very skewed male/female ratio and most of the women in this profession tend to be both even-minded AND fairly attractive, so there's that.

Just been leveling alts mostly, lots of lowbie pvp interspersed with a night of level 50 pvp every few days. Good times for the most part. I'm an above average pvper, as is a good friend of mine who transferred with me who plays a 'sin. On our last server, we were good, but we had good competition. On our new server we're big fish in a small pond. Like, the **** we pull off has so far left most enemy teams floored and unable to respond. On the bright side though, some people seem to be picking up on this, and games have slowly started to become less faceroll. I'll admit I like the ego boost. Coming from a long history of pvp servers in WoW, playing on a populous pve server is quite the change.

They should have limited the remastering of the originals to fixing technical glitches and enhancing visuals. Digitally increasing the height of the land speeders is fine, so is correcting some transparency issues during the scenes on Hoth, and I personally think the enhanced version of Bespin is awesome. I could do without the CGI singer at Jabba's palace and all that crap, though. And the Hayden edit was downright stupid. Why would Anakin show up as his young self when Obi-Wan and Yoda don't?

Have you guys watched Adywan's "Revisited" edits? Basically, a long-time fan decided that the 2004 thing was **** and started a project to revert some of the changes and make some of his own, even going so far as to reshoot some of the scenes to fix errors and whatnot.

http://swrevisited.wordpress.com/

He's working on Return of the Jedi right now, I believe (edit: Ah, he's still working on The Empire Strikes Back), and is preparing to jump ahead with the Prequel Trilogy once he's done with RotJ (and after he does a 720p version of ANH) sometime in 2016 (someone throw some funding at this guy so he can wrap it up before I die). Looks interesting. He's basically going to remove sh*t that doesn't make sense and try to bring some consistency to the entire saga. Sadly, this means Windu is losing his purple lightsaber. I kinda like the purple sabers.

Here's a comparison trailer for The Empire Strikes Back: Revisited, just to show some of the stuff he's changed:

Top = original 2004 DVD
Bottom = Adywan's revisited edit

Oh yeah, the edits are free to download from wherever you can find them.

Yeah, that disco scene is absolute blasphemy. I get physically irritated whenever it comes on. That and the final scene where Christensen appears instead of Sebastian Shaw. I can deal with everything else (since it's usually just a random alien addition that's jarringly out of place).

The lightsabers in the revisited version look awesome though...

The old-old Emperor in the holo was actually a woman in disguise, if I remember correctly. They didn't cast Ian McDiarmid until ESB where he made his first physical appearance. Ian was then added to ANH later on.

Fun fact: Ian McDiarmid portrays the Emperor in all the movies. He was 30 years younger in ESB, but you can't tell because of all the makeup.

Edit: The post I was responding to was removed. It was a guy writing nonsensical crap. Oddly enough, he also had the same **** written in his signature.

Yeah you get all these "Oh Han Solo is a good guy he would never shoot first" crap, but the fact is he was 1. Smart, he know he had a bounty on his head, 2. He was a smuggler aka "Scoundral" per leia and was acustome to the underworld, and 3. He was a surviver. Just because he shot first doesnt mean he isnt a good guy.
