Opinion time: Favorite companion!Follow

I've played every class to a pretty high level now and I'm starting to get a feel for the various companions in the game.

I don't know how you guys tend to favor companions, but when I stumble on a companion I really like, they become my one and only. Doesn't matter if it's a companion that completely breaks my class, I just want to use that companion so I can get as many dialogue options as possible throughout the missions.

As such, I've found some favorites for each class, but I also think I'm able to narrow it down to an overall favorite:

Kaliyo

I know Kali is getting a lot of flak on the (other) forums because of her completely insane personality, but I really like the character. She's spunky, like Kira and Vette, but she's not the goody two-shoes they are, and yet it's still easy to go Light Side with her, you just have to not be a complete tool all the time. She's very sarcastic and she loves it when I don't run off and kill myself for no good reason, unlike other companions who encourage me to do just that. More than once.

Kira and Vette are among my favorites as well, primarily because they're also sarcastic in their behavior. I guess my main attraction to Kali over Vette is that Vette, in my mind, tends to roll her eyes more, whereas I imagine Kali delivering her lines with a flirtatious wink. Vette is cute, but Kali is just damn sexy! Kira is like a mix between Vette and Kali, but like Vette, she has a tendency to be almost juvenile in her behavior. She's also on the other side of the fight, so she gets to be my number one Republic companion.

Who's your all-time favorite?

Kira, Elara, Theran and Vette for me. Although Andronikis has grown on me more and more. And I love Lacey Chabert as Mako's VA.

Asking me to choose just one is criminal Maz.

Kaliyo is the companion personality I wish Mako had. I liked Mako a lot, but I was almost forced to be pure Light Side to appease her. Kaliyo would have let me be a more merciless Bounty Hunter.

Anyway, Kaliyo and Mako are awesome. I like Khem Val too, but Spoilernot after Zash is part of him.

Pierce is a hard-bitten badass. A blood knight of sorts; he wants to fight the biggest, most brutal battles, stuff that will go down in legend and make people say "Wow, that guy did that and lived?!" He and my Jugg get along famously because while my Jugg is light side, he fully believes that conflict is the key to growth. Without it you have stagnation, and that leads to failure. As long as you give Pierce enough freedom to do things how he wants then he's happy as can be.

Broonmark is similar to Pierce, but whereas Pierce wants to do impossible things for both the fun of it and the story he gets to tell afterwards, Broonmark just wants to fight for the thrill of fighting. Broonmark is tempered by an odd sense of honor however; I'd call him something of a "dark side" Predator in that respect. He wants to kill things that will challenge him, but overall he really just enjoys killing things, particularly with his bare claws.

Jaesa, when light, is an interesting study in Jedi Padawans. Her story is a tragic one, and this colors her worldview and is what gives you the leverage to make her DS or keep her LS. By staying LS she goes on an interesting journey of self discovery that requires her to take on responsibility for herself that she didn't know she could shoulder. She again endures loss, but overcomes it and moves on, becoming stronger for it. She fights because she must, and while she may not enjoy it in the same way my Jugg does, she now understands that you engaging in violence isn't necessarily a sign of the dark side. I like her for her respectful attitude and the unconditional trust she placed in my character. I really got the feeling she was casting about looking for some kind of certainty in a mad galaxy, and my Jugg was able to give that to her.

Quinn and Vette most people already know about. Vette has some of the best one-liners in game (I especially love her "fears of dying to blank" that she'll drop in new situations sometimes) and Quinn plays the straight man very well, which makes his odd humorous remark all the funnier.

Out of practicality I rarely use Broonmark or Pierce, although it is quite funny watching Broonmark use his ability that sends weak/standard mobs flying. Typically I either need the safe DPS Vette provides or the heavy DPS Jaesa gives. I bring Quinn out whenever I'm doing something particularly taxing (like duoing the 4 man heroic in Black Hole) or else need to win via attrition instead of overwhelming force.

Jaesa gets better. She starts to train her unique power and uses it to Spoilerfind other light side Sith, and she attempts to make contact with them, which results in a lot of loss and growth for her as a character. But you don't really see that til the halfway point of her story, which can be awhile depending on your luck with gifts and how much you use her.
