Dunno the details--a level cap increase seems really odd outside of an expansion situation. But there's definitely not enough here to justify an expansion scenario. So I'm guessing they're just going to up the level cap because they need to expand the characters' story, which would be great.

I am sure if they manage to get it out before July (not hopeful). Then if they have a "return to play" bargain for former players and a couple free weekend pushes with some content releases that the game can bounce back and be healthy. If 1.3 hits mid July and we don't see new content until September it may be a serious blow to the long term health of the game.

The only thing that concerns me is the amount of end-game activities they are going to have if they increase the level cap and only release one new Op. Are they going to increase the level of all the other Ops and adjust the loot so there is more than one Op to do at the new level cap? Or are they going to make the one new Op really big and already have other future Ops in the works so it's not all by its lonesome for very long?

This. There used to be 200 people on the fleet and 100+ on Dromund Kaas/Coruscant on my server, but when Diablo 3 launched, the population was down 50% on the starting planets and 25% on the fleet.
One of the only European high pop servers and now it's light pop.
