Help me gear up.Follow

#1 Apr 03 2012 at 5:58 AM Rating: Good
I just hit 50, and to be honest, I'm kind of a moron when it comes to gear. I joined a group the other day (a rarity for me), and the other mercs were more or less ****** off that I was allowed to stay in the group (party leader is easy going, and chastised them for being snobs).

My first question is this: if I get decked out in the high end PvP gear, will that suffice?

If not, what is the best way of putting together a decent PvE set? Do people put up the decent stuff from high level flashpoints and such on the gtm? Are they generally reasonable about the price? Do I have to rely on charity and peoples' patience and just get some flashpoints done? Crafting mission lock boxes, should I even bother?

Not that I know much about end game but I do know that I spent a lot of time and cash and materials doing RE on mods to get the 22 purples (highest craftable with normal mats) only to find that I could have got 23 purples from Belsavis dailies.
Wherever I go - there I am.

Champ gear is more than enough for hard mode FP's and entry-level operations. Doing Belsavis/Ilum dailies, as Cobra noted, will give you good gear roughly on par with Tionese and some Columi stuff. Otherwise keep running hard modes. Black Talon is easy as heck as far as hard modes go, and Boarding Party isn't too much more difficult. Those two should give you some good starter stuff while you hit up some Ilum and Belsavis dailies to help fill in other slots.
The thing about me is that apparently it's very hard to tell when I'm drunk. So I feel like I'm walking sideways on a UFO and everyone else sees me doing the robot like a pro.

You might see the general attitude towards gear change a bit once we have damage meters and can compare DPS between gear sets. Champion/Centurion gear should be sufficient for the HM Flashpoints, which should sufficiently gear you for entry level Operations. If you know how to play your class, you should be fine. A fairly decent ******* DPS guide can be found [link=*************************

Don't worry about people crying about your participation. I've had people refuse to have me along on a mid-level FP while leveling when I was at the FP quest's suggested level because they "didn't want to carry me" when they were only two levels higher than I.

Tomorrow's going to have a significant difference in the gearing process anyway.
