You need to be active/helpful on this forum in order to have a chance at it. That doesn't mean spam posts with a handful of words per post just to make yourself seem active. Since they have a way of seeing your posts directly when they look at your user they'll just take you off the list for spamming most likely if you do.

I don't believe I've been doing that. You have 164 posts, so I dunno, you sure you haven't been doing that at all? lol

Being polite, helpful and asking serious game related questions.
Ofcourse no one expects answers from people who haven't played, but you can still be benificial to the forums.

good questions.how can you be active and helpful.

1. there is a NDA for the beta as for now so no information is allowed to be given out

2. asking for Beta Vip Key is not really spamming cause the more we have in RIFT the more we can improve or change to fix bugs and post feedbacks

3. Rift is just amazing coming from eq2 (hehe)

And sadly thats the same i would like to receive a beta vip key so i can continue sending feedbacks and reports.
so far defiant is amazing

A tip sofar since its not added in the System Spec sheet yet.Have lots of free Hard Drive Space.and make sure you dont go beyond half of your harddrive space for pagefile.

ps.not against NDA make sure to check your speaker volume when you login the first time.(my headset almost fried my head harhar)

kind regards

My tip to everyone is to carefully read everything you can about the classes/callings before you start. Although the archetypes are called the same as elsewhere, some of them are not what you'd assume based on other games. For example, most of the 'clerics' aren't meant to be healers. What a surprise as you start to level up and never can heal your group! As you can add souls, again, you need to really understand the finer points of the callings in order to create a toon you are happy with. And yes, you can change your souls, but if you don't know what you want, you aren't necessarily improving your lot.

Does anyone know if there will be 'utility' type spells given to some of the classes? Things like ports/gates, invisibility, SOW, EB, etc.? These types of abilities aren't listed anywhere obvious but make games more fun for me. If only some classes get this spells, I'd sure like to know in advance.

Hi guys
I played the 2nd Beta event. I feel so addicted already, it's fun to admit. I'm hoping so much i'd get the VIP key, or be selected for 3rd!

I can't wait for this game to be released. At least open beta. My mind has been blown when i played it. Well, i've been trying many, many mmorpg the last few years. I haven't played a single one as absorbing as RIFT. Something with the ambiance, i do not really know what, but it felt so GOOD playing it.

By the way, i played on a french server, and i was wondering if there will be any "EU" server. I would like to avoid playing only with french, or only with germans, or only with UK, or only with etc ^_^

Hope to meet you guys in beta 3 :D

Hey everyone.
I'm really excited about this game. I really enjoy beta testing, providing feedback to the developers and hunting for bugs. Sadly, the last several times I have applied to get into beta's I have either not gotten in at all or been part of the final open beta stress-test which is more a giant party than any testing for the participants.

Please keep me in mind if you are looking for someone who will give plenty of input and feedback ;)

The one thing I have had the biggest challenge with in Beta is finding someone to sell items to in order to clean out my bags. From level 1 to 7, this confuddles me. Starting out as a new player, my bags fill up quickly. Finding an NPC to unload these items without going to Meridian is frustrating for me. Not sure if I am just overlooking the obvious, but in case others are having the same issue, I thought I would ask if anyone knows of merchants willing to buy items outside of a main town.

:)Back to Beta!

Okay found the answer. When you have a General Merchant targeted, right click the item you wish to sell. :)

This is a UI question. In EQ2, page up and page down on my key bindings, changes your screen view up or down. For instance, you can look at the sky, by page up, and the ground by page down. Is there a key mapping option for this in Rift?

New games can be very exciting but they can also be confusing and frustrating for new players. I believe as beta testers it is also our responsiblity to help new players with finding their way in the game. To answer questions we can help with, and share things we have learned about the game while in testing that is useful to them.

Why do I think this is important you might ask? Simply put, it helps the stablilty of the game by educating the core base players. When information is shared .. it is passed on to others. In my experience the beta testing gamer is a different breed, they care about each other as they care about the game being tested. Its the strength or the failure of most games. Ive been privileged to be a part of the good beta community and sad to be apart of the failing ones.

So when you get out there and start testing, remember what the main purpose of the beta community is about; finding flaws in the game, sharing them, educating players, and making a better game!! Lets help make "Rift" a true Second Generation game.

You've probably already answered your question, but for anyone else who is curious...

The Official website has a helpful page (http://www.riftgame.com/en/products/exclusives.php ) that describes where you can buy the game and what exclusives you get based on where you get it. Note that if you don't feel like going out, you can also buy a downloaded version of the game straight from Trion's Worlds - you can even buy a downloaded CE edition!

Well I have been considering joining Rift since it launched and have a few questions. First let me state that while I have played a variety of MMOs the 2 I am most familar with are Age of Conan and FFXI so compairsons to those games in answers would be appriciated.

1. Combat. I understand there are massive amounts of abilities you can activate from the hot bar, but how do regular attacks work? (i.e. is there an Auto-attack like FFXI, or do you press the same key over and over again to perform a regular swing)

2. PVP. Is there any protection to prevent spawn camping and ganking? (i.e. Are there super powered NPC guards at respawn points/res sites to prevent some higher level to sit at the point I respawn and kill me over and over)

3. Storage. Do you get a personal storage space to keep items you want to hang onto, but rather not have taking up inventory slot? (i.e. Mog Safe/locker or Trader storage)

3.a. Is there a Guild community storage?

4. Game Challange. Can I solo all the way to max level or will I have to party/group with others at somepoint?

5. Are races limited to select roles or can any race be any role?

Thats all for now, thanks in advance for the info.

There is an auto-attack option that automatically activates if you use a hostile, damaging ability or just press the auto-attack button.

I am on a PvE server so your experience may differ, but some locations are more protected than others are. If you rebuild your body however and take the soul damage, there's a shield up for sure for a brief (seconds) time. The roaming invasions can discourage corpse camping however--ignoring them to crawl after someone really isn't helpful in the long run.

Yes there is a banker, but no there is no guild bank.

Yes, you can solo, but they make it easy to group for quick things. The game has a public group and private group feature. Private groups are invite only while public groups allow anyone to join that character by pressing a button on top of their character head portrait. When you get near a rift, invasion or foothold/enemy wardstone, a big "JOIN PUBLIC GROUP" button also appears near the top of the screen if there are more people nearby, encouraging people to create groups for the situation.

thiib wrote:

Races are a cosmetic choice--there are no role limitations.

alright so i've hit 50 on my cleric ... got all my skills to 300 (Mining,Armor/Weaponsmith) ... a decent build for tanking and 0 toughness.

initially i'd like to thank anyone for any help in getting started on endgame content.

firstly stats:

i'm assuming wisdom is my primary with endurance being my secondary. only because that's what kind of stats are stacked up on my gear currently. granted it's mostly green gear, so i guess some pointers on where to find/make some decent gear would be helpful as well. common sense seems to dictate that toughness>armor>endurance>block would be a decent line of building for a tank ... but then again - the forums i've read don't really say much for the influence of individual stats to a cleric tank. the build i'm using is a fairly even split between justicar/shaman/purifier, primarily focusing on mitigation and self healing.

secondly dungeons:

since i'm obviously just trying to gear for expert dungeons - what would be some decent dungeons to run to get some quasi-good gear for starters?

finally crafting:

where do you find recipes for something better than green craftable gear? dungeons? vendors?

thanks for any help guys.

Hello, fellow Rift Players.
I've played on most beta events and really enjoyed the game, however, could only buy a key now.
The aspect of the game I liked the most was the rift hunt, so before buying the game, I'd like to ask if every shard does like running closing rifts and saving outposts from invasions or if there's an specific shard for players interested on this game aspect.

I plan to do raids and dungeons eventually, but I'm trying to be more casual and wander around Telara than just repeating WoW now boring endgame.

Thanks in advance for the help.
