I have been pondering this for a while. Is there enough parry/dodge talent bonuses to negate the use of a shield and instead use either a Two-Hander Augmented with tanking stats, or dual-wielding two tanking One-Handers? I am just throwing this out there without much thought behind it, but if any one has some good points, please speak them!

Edit: Put together a Dual-Wield build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0cEAu.xx.xzqthukAfk.xxzc

Please note that parry is basically hard-capped at 20%

From just the build I don't see parry to be a major problem. Most of the Runes someone would by (to put on their gear for this set) should be dodge. I need some more feed back peoples!

Maybe something like this?

Just stack dodge and parry as possible. You should have the armor for decent physical dmg reduction and the buffs for magical dmg reduction. Only thing that shields will do is have more of a dmg reduction upon blocking and they have a higher chance of doing that so you need to try for the same thing. diminshing returns may be in affect for parry and dodge so that is why block is typically a better go to stat.

While the build does utilize the defensive attributes of both specs, we have to keep in mind that we need some damage output to help with threat gain, and to make sure we have adequate hit for bosses in later content. That would be the only thing I would check for. Too late now to go over the build in detail. I will post a more in-depth look through later.

IF you want to go duelwield i'd suggest the following.

rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0cuhg.xezch0z.VxRh.gc0qI0mh

Dips more heavy into paragorn for more parry and better dps/thread. Augmented by paladin's "aggressive Guardian" and "small are specialisation".
Sided it with Void Knight since it boosts armor the most and put in Replenish for a small bit of self healing.
If i theory craft this correct you will gain LOADS of pacts since you DW so get more attacks in(not sure if double hit attacks works as 1 or 2 attacks)

"Shield of the Hero" seems a bit odd but took that for the 5% hit chance (and 1 more pally point for the Stam buff)

==Edit==
rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0cuhA.xezch0z.VLMh.xuqzhhkcbk

Replaces Vk for Reaver for maybe some better self healing and better AoE
(debate is between Reavers 15% flat damage reduction and Vks Armor/Parry buffing
