Ranger Aggro Control (Keeping it on the pet)Follow

Hi all,

I'd appreciate any tips you could provide for keeping aggro on the ranger pet. I have tried to use divert rage a few times, but either it is somewhat ineffectual, or I am not using it right because I can't seem to keep the aggro on my pet after something like a headshot. I fin that it is even worse with the dire wolf pet (he doesn't seem to generate as much aggro as the pig).

Thanks for any advice,
Cretus

I play a Saboteur, arguably one of the highest burst damage classes, and I've had no problem with my pig keeping aggro.

The Dire Wolf is a DPS pet and will not keep aggro - it's not supposed to. The boar should do fine. Did you happen to turn off its attack that generate high threat? Check your pet's action bar.

Thanks Locke!! I switched back to the pig and made certain that Pummel was on and he is holding aggro like a champ! :)

Thanks for the info about the wolf vs. pig - I hadn't realized the difference (wolf=dps).

Thanks,

No problem - the game doesn't make it all that clear. Necromancer is even worse - they have, what, six pets? Looking at the abilities really is what differentiates them Smiley: smile

ya definitely use the pig, and the greater once you get it is even better, with another move for aoe threat, as well as more armor.

at 26 with the greater pig, i launch him into 3-4 enemies at a time, instantly hit divert rage, and start pounding them with rain of arrows, as that will generate the hate to my pet, once u do that once, start picking em off using ur pets target first.

easiest way to do that, is in your interface, turn on "attack target of target" or something like that, along with show target of target, this allows you to click ur pets portrait and start blasting away his target.
