Warrior calling question.Follow

I am trying to narrow down the Calling field for warriors to something that is fun to play and has some good soloing/dmg capabilities.

I have not played a warrior-type class in too many games, so I need some opinions on which warrior types I should look into.

I know that many of you have probably played WoW at some point so that will be what I will go by in telling you what I like.

I am looking for something like an Unholy or Frost Deathknight playstyle. I don't really care that much for the warrior class itself in WoW, but I have a L.80 Fury Warrior.

Healing myself is a plus, but not something I must have if the class is fun and can solo level pretty easily.

PvE based, not PvP.

I have already decided on messing with a Beastmaster on another character (I still need another Warrior or Rogue), and I am not 100% sure on how the souls in Rift actually work.

I did play the beta for quite awhile, but I never really leveled up very far so I didn't see how the different Souls worked together and what to look for...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Well your best bet would be the reaver. It has the poison damage being a part of its style similar to diseases. Really though its different from those classes though but its the closest to it. Reaver is a bit more on the tanky side though but it does hold damage potential in it and its not really a pure tank class. It does have abilities that give healing with the damage combined with its dots.

Hmm, I'll look into it.

Are there any other Warrior classes that just pumps out the DPS and can solo pretty well (and is FUN to play)? As I said earlier, healing would be a plus but not a deal breaker.

Thanks again.

A Void knight/reaver hybrid build is about as close to a DK tank as you're going to get, however neither are dps souls. Sit down and look over the warrior souls, and experiment with them, basically you are going to have to shed the notion that a Warrior calling is the same as a Warrior class, from wow. It's more melee dps with either dw or 2h, or tank with sword and board.

I might have not mentioned that I am not wanting a tank character. I want something that is fun to play and can DPS well enough to be fun. Must be able to solo pretty well (and hopefully fast) too.

I am already going to have a Beastmaster, so maybe I should look into making my "extra' character into a different specced cleric other than druid, or something in the Mage calling that is different than the Necromancer.

My main character right now is a Ranger/Marksman/Bard.

Riftblade and paragon offer a lot of unique ranged abilities that can make a warrior deadly from up to 20 meters away. Champion offers a very nice skill that increases all damage dealt that requires almost no points in the tree except the first tier, which has a 10% str increase with 5 points which helps every warrior build since we are completely based off our str (dps wise). I myself have not experimented with a beastmaster because I personally dont like playing with a pet. Riftblade/Paragon/Champion is a pretty solid dps build, very good for leveling and has a lot of neat stuff that allows you to damage at ranged but as if you were melee. Definitely worth trying them out! Though this does stray far away from the DK type of playstyle since it doesnt use dots at all, just a overall decent warrior soloing build

As a Warrior playing a VK/Rv/War right now, even though you're thinking in WOW terms, you need to shed that thought. DKs are offensive in nature, and limited in a lot of ways; the possibilities in this game don't allow you to pigeonhole a Calling into one "class." Mukkai's right, Reaver and Void Knight will give you lots of DOTs, but it's not packaged like a DPS class. You're DPS will be steady but not spikey, and all of your best abilities are actually threat-building rather than damage-dealing.

Your best bet with a VK/Rv/War is to be a tank and use the threat-building, defensive parts of the respective trees; see link below for an example.
Tank Build

If you want melee DPS look to Riftwalker, Paragon and Champion, although that is not something I've looked into yet. Good luck, tell me how it goes.
