Where are my healers at?Follow

Raid groups have two main problems in games like these. 1 is the lack of good main tanks, even after finding a couple of solid main tanks and doing the endgame content losing even one of them can sometimes be a guild killer. However the 2nd main problem in this game is what this topic is about, healers. If we broke it down into percents it'd probably be something like 85% dps, 10% healers, 5% tanks in terms of what people roll and end up actually making it to the level cap with. Lets face it noone enjoys the long and agonizing grind of trying to get a healer or tank to the level cap. Everyone likes the quick kills, powerful nukes and skill spamming of dps classes. Personally I am going to be a main tank for my raid group, I'd like to know if anyone is planning on rolling healers so I can possibly get to know a few before open beta/retail.

but it almost sounds as though with the "right" souls people will be able to change jobs around in a "final fantasy XI-ish" way need to go somewhere to change the souls you have equipped im sure would like to know how allotting the points is whether you have to erase the points by spending gold like in WoW or if every time you change souls you can arrange the points how you want if this is the case it would be nice to be able to save certain setups. but going back to your question hopefully people arent selfish and take it on themselves to learn how to use the other callings if it were necissary to change to a healing type class

I always play healers and I plan to play on in Rift.

Was messing around with various builds to determine what the best one would be for a Offensive Spell Casting Healer, Pure Healer with some buffs/utility and Melee based healer. It's nice that I'll be able to change my build dramatically depending on what's needed.

I will be your healer :P I always choose the healer class, I have been drawn to that class from the first time I played one. I won't be a lazy healer either. You know there are some....admit it! hehe Some go on auto follow and just do the bare essentials, and some not even that. They don't pay attention or just heal themselves lol It's that one healer in the back, standing there, with everyone in your group or raid party yelling HEAL ME! at. But like I said, that isn't me :) It's a class I thoroughly enjoy.

I have plans to roll at least one healer and one caster, I have found I do not tank well (gee maybe its just my lack of hand eye..) I MIGHT try the rogue class because for some reason.,.. i love bein sneaky!

Anyhoo if you're in need of a healer look for Lunaveris, not sure if she will be Defiant or Guardian yet though.. we shall see.

Its those rules that will keep us at the top, with the best of everything and the best at everything. Sure we'll get called elitists and so forth, but it's our view of fun in the game so to each their own.

Definitely rolling a healer here. I get tired of dying in groups because of the healer. Or the healer DCing and not coming back because they get upset they died. Dying is part of the game. So I will be the dependable healer.

my friend we both know that while your running that dungeon for the 16th time trying to fill that left earring slot, me and my bros are gonna be roflstomping a bunch of defiant scum and bringing glory and honor to the guardians! to each his own though. =D

Checking in! My secondary main/class/job (my main alt lol) has always been a healer. FFXI I was a RDM/WHM or RDM/SMN in WoW, I have my main who is a hunter and my main alt who is a resto specced druid, then in Aion I have my main who is a Assassin and an alt who is a Chanter.

My main will be a healer. Kelari Purifier/Sentinel/Warden is probably the spec I'll go for first.
I never used to play healers until I did it in EQ2 on the Venekor/Nagafen pvp servers. Discovered I liked it and was quite good at it and thus, my fall to masochism began. :P

<raises hand> I will be making a healer archetype for my main. Not sure what souls I will include, but I will most likely start with something a little more offensive to ease the grind. Then once i get into more group things like instances and such, I will take on the Sentinal soul for that more classic drop back healer.

I'd like something that can contribute to healing or tanking, I loved tanking in my previous games but I often felt too under pressure while learning, not to ***** up.

It also depends greatly on the system used for healing as to which I'll prefer, I hate healing with a bare-bones UI, I find it much more enjoyable to try and keep the many enemies beating me senseless. That's another reason I'm hoping they allow me into the beta (closed or open) before official launch, so I can play around with the classes and get a running start if it's my thing.

That said, I'm hoping the need for tanks and healers isn't going to be like it was in World of Warcraft, I'd prefer a community less out for themselves where your members aren't constantly looking to 'trade up' despite often being the weak link themselves. Constant recruiting sucks, be it for a guild or a small party.

I have some hope that the percentages will be a little different for this game based on the fact that each calling has so many soul choices. A lot of people who don't like solely healing ( no pun intended) might be more drawn to the cleric calling because they wont just be healers, so leveling them wont be as much of a tough grind.

With how versatile the Clerics seem to be from thier descriptions I'll probably end up playing one. I currently play a healer full time in EQ2 so I may as well continue on one in rift. The real question is, which one of them do I want to play. :/

I haven't made my choice yet but I usually love to enhance/buff parties. On the other hand I like the underdog/abstract classes as well and may want to go in that direction. A roguish type class is also somewhat interesting..although I don't really care for the twitchy gameplay....do you see why this is a problem for me?...

I must be masochistic .. in every game I play , I roll healers. 4 in eq2 and 4 in wow 2 in lotro maxxed level. Really looking foward to the customization available with the soul system.

LOL don't feel bad, you aren't alone =) some of us are just addicted to the arch type! & very much agreed can't wait to see how the customization is going to work out, going to make for very intersting dynamics.

I've always done healing classes in MMOs. Ten years of playing online games has molded me into a very patient, diligent leveler and I actually enjoy the grind of getting a pure healer to max level without being carried by anyone. It's fun to me. I'll definitely be playing a healer of some sort in Rift, though I haven't honed in on anything specific yet.

I played a priest in wow and a WP in WAR. Although i like healing in PVP situations I'm not a fan of raid healing. Feels to much like playing virtual wack-a-mole with HP bars.

I'm still hung between a Shaman heavy cleric or a Warlord heavy fighter though. I'll have to wait a month till the NDA drops or I get chosen to get into a beta though.

<-- Always a healer. I did hardcore raid heals back in the days of Everquest on a Cleric (6x a week but I don't plan on raiding to that extreme again) and a DOK when I played WH. Then also had a Priest in a Hardcore Raid Guild and we raided like 3x a week and were more successful than guilds running 5x a week. :D

I hope to find balance between raiding/grouping and PVP. :D More than that, I want to surround myself around other skilled players who are amazing at their class. I'd rather be with good players than a zerg any day of the week.

Been healing in EQ2 for 5 years. It's time to switch it up with Rift. I'm going dps this time around. Basically, opposite of what I did in eq2. Maxed healer, player healer, blah blah blah 5 years later, max dps. I'm gonna roll DPS this time around and see if I like healing later.

Me and my bro usually go for one healer and one tank OR one heal one dps OR one dps one tank. So that we can always start a party easily. If we find some "loyal" friend who is already one of our class we reroll to what is need as soon as we decide to team up.

Because it's way better to reroll and play very actively another char than just staying online and watch your name spamming "LFP"
