So I'm really torn about what callings I should be looking at. While I love playing warriors (or big weapon hack-n-slashers) I don't like playing tanks or even off-tanks. I find that DPS warriors are never "viable" in late game and so I'm having trouble picking out a calling that'll suit me.
Any suggestions? Additionally, what do you all want to play?

What Callings Interest You the Most?Follow
I am going to be a main raid tank as well as a meatshield in pvp for my guild. As such my Warrior will have 3 souls, Reaper, Paladin, and Void Knight. Each of which I am aiming for specific types of skills to help my life regeneration, defense, and resistances.

I am pretty sure that (if the soul system works the way it has been described by players and devs) that you will find many of the souls in the warrior calling that fits your play style. The developers recently stated that they even "borrow" elements from other callings, so you could have warrior-souls that are more in line a rogue's role, i.e. dealing melee damage. Champion would probably be a good bet, while Paladin would likely not suit you.

Still I have in mind to play that class. I've always liked the ranger for the fascination with the bow and the speed which they launched coli. But the magicians are the ones that fascinate me most, because the magic is an art to learn, know how to use your magician.
Female dwarf, haven't decided anything else at this point in time. I will probably make one of each calling because I love them all.
O, to be a voyager and a voyeur no longer!
I will more than likely go Mage of some sort, but cleric is also calling my name. Justicar or Shaman if I go cleric because those remind me of my loved Disciple of Khane from WAR, or Pyromancer for mage.

Warrior/Tank will be my first build. Then i think i want to try the scout line. Ranger maybe? Gonna have to wait and see more, but definately interested in a few of them.

Sounds to me like your after a 'Barbarian/Berserker' type class. Hmm, at the moment it looks like Champion sounds to be the closest to what your looking for, with the 2 handed weapon choice and quick ways to close the distance. Perhaps the soul system will allow you to spec more dps to make it more viable and effective late game?
Personally, I'll be going for a blade dancer. Twin blades and tight leather.. should be awesome! :D

I will definitely be starting out with a Blade Dancer. Reaver or Champion sounds up your alley depending on whether you like a lil' magic with your swordplay or not.
if I can get in Beta I definately want to try some stuff out but when the game actually launches im gonna go with something I "hope" will be end-game savvy im leaning towards Achron sounds nice and something that will be highly useful since it can weaken enemies as well as strengthening yourself and the party also looking at paladin or warlock

Ranger! A classic class. I'm really interested to see the real difference between the rogue subclasses though - it will be neat to see how they can customize and specialize them.

I finally found mage class that interests me hehe. Last mage i played was fire paper mage in knight online and now i am finally able to blow up things again /evil grin (Pyromancer)

I think you are still save in the warior tree. It is the class that has the most tank possibilities, but the entire point with rift class system is to be able the class you want to play. So if you want to play a big weapon wielding dps. I don't see why one of the warior classtypes won't provide that, without having lesser dps output than other dps classes.
I'm going for rogue class, most likely ranged (hunter or marksman or combo). And if I should ever miss tanking I hope that the riftstalker provides enough skills to be a descent tank.

I'd take a closer look on the Rift forums as to what has been put out for both warrior and Rogue classes.. i think you can find a build of warrior that will suit your need to beat on things but not be the main attraction!
As for me both the cleric and mage callings have soul-combos that i can't wait to try. I am also looking at the rogues just cuz I always have a rogue/ranger class in any game I play.. I may not play it well but its a tradition, Sayvill (EQ), Jillesponie (VG) and Querna (EQ2). So much to do! so little time! And honestly I can't say much more because I need to get into those builds and see what trips my trigger.. on that I wish Trion would release a bit more info for the souls....

I'm leaning toward the rogue calling for the ranger class, as I historically feel led to play a hunter/ranger class with a bow and a pet in every game I try. However, I am usually more interested in pet taming in any game, so I may have to check out the Beastmaster, which is rumored to be the pet-taming class in Rift.

I'm all over the bard soul, its just too bad that it's heroic so I can't start out with it. But I figure I will end up with an Assassin/Bladedancer/Bard setup. Damage and support, are the days where the support classes are dependent on grouping over? We'll see =)

Well my main will be a Rogue calling. Since we can have 4 different builds I will have one Ranger and/or marksman build, a tankish style rogue build, a pure melee dps build, and the last one will probably just be a test build to try out different combination. I remember from PAX you didnt get access to make 4 different builds right away so the first one will probably be a Ranger unless they have changed it so that you can have more then one build to start.

I will definitely have one Defiant Rogue class (most likely a ranger to start) and then will do a Guardian warrior class of some flavor. I want to try to go for a higher based dps class with tankability. Will have to see which one suits my play style on release. Typically I have always played a melee dps (ranger type) class.
I will go with every single spellcaster in the game, specially the damage dealers. But I also wanna try the healers *.*

Definitely Mage calling for me. Pyromancer and Stormcaller look awesome. Probably start with those and then move to Riftstalker once I'm hit with ganker envy.
Definitely Justicar but depending on how that plays out will tell me what I put with it.
Right now- Ranger/Assassin is looking like a great combo to test with. Both souls seem to have good synergy with each other and look like they are capable of putting out yummy burst DPS.
I do love to tank some though, and Reaver looks like it could be a very cool twist on a very traditional group role. Can't wait to hopefully test it out!

From what I have seen so far, Void Knight is very unique take on a tank, but I have always played a dark knight, so Reaver is very cool as well, and will be my second soul slot. I think that the Void Knight will be a tank with pvp tendencies, the grind it out power of the reaver, my third soul that will make a very cool tank build is paladin. But who knows? I will make my final decision at the end of beta (assuming I get in!)

I'll be starting with the heal route. Purifier/Sentinel/Warden (I think) to start.

You have all probably seen the rebuttal already, but female dwarf being unlocked was a joke that got out of hand. They will not need unlocked.

Izzban, say it ain't so. Will I have to do all the healing myself? I guess I am being pulled in other directions other than healer as well, but I still think my main will be in the cleric archetype. However those darn Tanks look good, as do the mages, as well as the rogue classes. Decisions decisions.

Actually the elementalist reminds me a tiny bit of the pet class I played in AC2. Nostalgia FTW!

I will go Bard i enjoy them a lot, but until i try is hard to say because dont really know how support classes will work on that game, in second place i will try a helaer i didnt analyzed them in depth so cant say the class yet.

I had my eye on Inquisitor to start with. I'm still a bit unfamiliar with how the soul system works, but ideally I want something that can output enough heals to keep a tank alive through small party work, but tank well enough to step up, but provide enough utility/Damage output so as not to be dead weight while I'm still learning the class.

Torn between caster dps and tank. Maybe a really tough healer/support class. The thing about rift is that there are so many combinations they all have A LOT to offer. I'm really interested in something that will excel in PvP.

Im interested in testing alot of different soul combinations, and seeing how they mesh with the game , lol i wanna play so bad i can almost taste it.
I was actually thinking Champion Paragon and Warlord/Paladin. So I will be mainly dual-wielding with a little tankiness of the paladin or extra power of the warlord. I love tanking so I will probably have a tank build as well but I hate being tanky and then not being able to do anything while on my own.

I almost always make a rogue for a main character, so it's really nice to see how interesting the Rogue calling is in Rift. I'll mainly use a pure melee build, but I suspect that I will also explore the support (Bard) and tanking (Riftstalker) foci.
Also, Micajah, there is sure to be a viable DPS focus out of the 7 different foci for the Warrior calling.

Being a solo player, i tend to stand back, hide in the shadows. So the rogues look to be a my calling. But then I very much like trying all the templates to better grasp weaknesses in my foes!

Im going to have to make one guardian and one rebel for sure to see which one I am more in tune with for this game. Im thinking .. try a guardian cleric of which type I havent decided yet and then the rebel mage to get into the middle of the fight! Im excited about trying to close a rift.. charge!!! opps ... ok I should wait till I actually get into the game.
