Which ever reason you purchased the game (or, even if you didn't).

The game comes out on March 17th. Pre-orders have already shipped. Mine is actually sitting at the local UPS center, a few miles away, as of this morning. But won't be delivered until the 17th, unfortunately. It happens all the time with Square Enix store pre-orders, they ship them well in advanced, and they sit at the UPS center for up to a week. Almost makes me want to drive over and tell them to give me my package, even though I know they won't.

I am not sure which one I'll do first, if I'll actually play Type 0, or just fire up the demo for FFXV.

I'm still pissed they never released it stateside on PSP, and no PS3 release. PS4 atm is going the same way as the PSVita, great hardware no support, and the support they are getting are remakes and re-releases.

As for FFXV I'll hold my judgement. I hated 13, even replaying it a bit on the PC release I remembered why. I'm looking forward to the new "Tales of ..." games more than FF games.

To be fair, the whole current Gen is lacking. Well, at least Xbone and PS4. Wii U has all of Nintendos exclusives so they are doing fine, by refusing to release current games on PC or last Gen, they force everyone to use their current Gen, or don't play the game. Many good games on the Xbone/PS4 are available either PC or last Gen still.

PS3 also had a rough start. Earlier in the life the 360 was actually outpacing the PS3 as far as RPGs and even JRPGs went. I remember because I got both back then. And Vesperia being 360 exclusive in the West along with Lost Odyssey, and a handful of others like Star Ocean, Eternal Sonata, etc. that didn't come out for the PS3 until later. I remember buying FFXIII on the PS3 just so I finally had an RPG to play on my PS3.

The PSP one was fan translated and released into the ether that is the internet, so if you're interested life, uh ... finds a way.

I played the first scenario of it. Kind of button mashery.

Huh Last I checked they were in the process of translating. I'm surprised they finished most of the PSP translation projects give up half way.

I think they finished the PSP translation right around the time they announced the PS4 HD remake.

So I've played a couple hours of the FFXV Demo.

It's a little overwhelming at first. A somewhat deceivingly simple battle system, but there are so many different things. Dodging, guarding, parrying, counterattacking, skills, weapon types. Warping and using your surroundings to flee from the fray and get a high ground advantage over your opponent to attack. Being able to hide behind objects mid battle to recover energy.

So you are running around after learning from your buddy how to fight, and there are a few little creatures around. You kill a few, walk around, your friends grab your attention to look at things. You seem to be doing OK.

Then nightfall hits. It's dark and you are carrying some sort of light source, but it only illuminates a relatively small area in front of you. The game warns you to find a good place to setup camp, but ***** that, what's the worst that can happen?

You hear a mechanical hum of an engine, and one of your friends mentions the Imperial Army. A drop ship of some sort shines a spot light down on you and the area around you. Half a dozen soldiers drop from the ship to the ground and one of them is carrying a banner of some sort. But also on the outskirts of the drop ship's spotlight, you notice something. A few goblins dancing around. And some fast moving blurs, which turn out to be wolf-type creatures darting between the shadows.

The soldiers have weapons, the goblins are running up and poking at you, even stealing items. The wolf creatures are darting from the shadows, taking a strike at you before going back into the shadows. You can barely choose a target, try to attack one of the soldiers, and the others are blasting you before you can take a swing. The goblins are an annoyance, with the occasional potion being stolen, which they proceed to take a few steps back and visibly drink in front of you. If you are lucky enough to strike a wolf as it darts from the shadows you only hope you can continue the strikes, but the rest of its pack will likely hit you once or twice, giving their buddy time to escape.

Apparently I'm chasing a Behemoth to earn some bounty cash... but I can barely take down a pack of wolves as is.

I didn't get to play much today. But I will probably over the weekend. Friday vacation.

I watched a bit of the IGN FFXV stream and it looked pretty sweet. Is buying FF Type 0 the only way to get it? Or will they be releasing it standalone in the near future?

Right now the Day One Type 0 copies are the only source of the Demo. I assume later prints won't contain the code, but who knows when exactly that will cut off, and of course who knows how much of their first print inventory they have left. I can't imagine it staying that way forever, but I don't imagine it coming out any time soon any other way. At least not until SE decides they moved enough of the first prints.

Supposedly the Demo codes are selling on Ebay for 25-30 dollars.

I did play half an hour or so of Type 0. The first few missions. It is very bloody. I knew going in that it was "darker" than your usual FF game, but there was a lot of blood. You don't normally see blood in Final Fantasy.

Beware of Deadeye. Last seen in woods. Reported to be one-eyed, one-horned, purple, people-eating.

I laughed.

For what it's worth, a v2 of the game translation was released last night. According to the patch info, it has been 100% translated.

So you know, if you're so inclined.

If you are playing the Demo, apparently you can glitch yourself outside the bounds of the Demo and explore some incomplete areas.

The demo is pretty short. But you can continue playing after it's over.

You can (and really must, unless you grind like crazy and are really good at the fighting mechanics) summon Ramuh. The summoning sequence is really good.

You also get to collect some special weapons throughout the demo which, once you have them all, turns one of your basic attack skills into a very powerful attack similar to Cloud's Omnislash move from the Advent Children movie. Multiple phantom blades around your character, with you going ape **** on the target.

The female Cid, Cindy, is like... Daisy Duke. I don't much care for her voice and accent, but what are you going to do.

I have acquired a second FFXV Demo code. I'm not the type to deal in selling keys and such across ebay and the sorts, so I'm not going to sell it. And it does me no good setting on my shelf.

Any of you regulars out there with PS4s interested?

Sounds like Type-0 is coming to Steam. Looks promising that FFXV will as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see the FFX/X-2 remake come to the PC too. Probably wouldn't be difficult to port to the PC now that they have it working on the PS4. I am really hoping that FFXII gets a remake treatment for the PS3/4/PC as well. I think they've acknowledged the demand for the game, but haven't heard anything, even rumors, about it.

It looks like Japanese game developers are finally realizing PC/Steam exists. I read that a "Harvest Moon" game (at least, the US Split off that got to keep the Harvest Moon name) is coming to the PC. Grandia II is coming to Steam.

Tales of Zesteria has had a few PS4 rumors (maybe just mistakes). And it would be great if a Tales game made it to Steam...

I really hope this is true I dont want another console. Wii U and PS3 is enough.

BTW Grandia 2 has been on the PC for a long time.

I have a PS4, so I'd probably get it for the PS4 before anything. But I'd be tempted to buy it on Steam just because... and to give support to them being on Steam/PC.

And as for Grandia II, ya, but not on Steam.

FFXV Demo received a sizable update. I downloaded it last night but have not played it yet.

Will probably fire it up later tonight, or tomorrow. Definitely play through the additional content this weekend and see what the changes to the battle system do.

It's official now.

Coming to the PC and PS4 in the US on October 20th. And last week some time they announced Tales of Beseria. With a "We're Sorry" Female Protagonist. To appease the angry Japanese over them advertising Zesteria with a main female character who promptly leaves the game near the beginning only to be added back with a DLC.

It's listed on Steam now.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/351970/

I'm not usually one to care about graphics, but I hope they work on at least the voice timing / syncing. That trailer doesn't do the series justice, I think. While I haven't watched anything on Zestiria yet, I just finished Xillia and Xillia 2 a few months ago.

I'm a little cautious about Zestiria's open battle system. I've heard that it causes camera problems in tight areas like caves and dungeons. And some reviewers said it makes the post battle results screen and character quips seem out of place since there are no interruptions at the start of battle, but there is at the end. I never had a problem with the battles taking place in a separate areas, I actually prefer them. Not sure if Beseria will keep the new style Zestiria battle system, or go back to the classic Tales battle system.

So they started announcing details on the Zestiria Collector's edition. The standard items, little trinkets, some DLC, etc.

But around the same time they announced that they were porting Tales of Symphonia HD to the PC on Steam as well. Not a lot of details, and not sure if they are going to bring both Symphonia and Dawn of the New World (The Chronicles bundle).

And since the PC version doesn't get a collector's edition release, they are doing a little pre-order campaign. After some pre-order number goals are reached, things like DLC will be included with the pre-order. And the ultimate goal being a free copy of Tales of Symphonia HD with your Zestiria pre-order. Pretty good deal, I hope to see it succeed.
