It's slow, if that bothered you on 1-2 you will most likely feel the same. It does not bother me though because I really enjoy the story and especially in 3 it feels very immersive.

*edit: To reply to Turin the graphics seem fine to me. Really like the wind and the swaying of the trees and grass. All devs have to make concessions to consoles, but this game firmly puts the PC experience on top again if you want to build for it. Also I found that key to the cellar chest on a body by the river near the dive chest that starts the quest but the body is on shore.

Only weird glitch I have run into so far is the catacombs wraith despawned after I drove it from the catacombs and did not repawn again outside so I never got a chance at a second emerald dust to make the steel serpent. Glad I made the silver one first still.

After raiding a ginormous bandit camp in Velen full of level 9+ guys and becoming overburdened I went back to W Orchard and bought some emerald dust. Now I has both serpent swords and life is good. Smiley: grin

I played a bit last night. After being sent after Ciri, I headed off to the next area. It's at least ten times the size of White Orchard. I spent most of my time trying ro track down Places of Power, but only found one. I did pick up a new sword schematic, but I haven't found a swordsmith, and I didn't feel like backtracking to White Orchard, so I haven't upgraded yet.

I'm still derping around White Orchard. The game hasn't really hooked me enough yet to put the time into it to progress quickly. I did manage to have the dwarf sew me a sweet striped shirt to go with my new blue pants so I look like I escaped from a circus.

Ridin across the land
Kicken up sand,
Wild Hunt is on my tail cuz I'm in demand.

I like Velen so far. One message board did give me a level 33 quest though. I can't even imagine how long it takes to get to level 33. I'm level 4. I've 100%ed White Orchard, and am doing every random thing I can in Velen so far. Almost level 5, after 12 hours according to Steam. Ive got 20% XP on my swords and 5% exp on my trophy as well. Everything I fight is like 4-5 levels above me. I got skillz so its no issue just seems weird. I guess I should not sweat the numbers and just continue to beat down stuff that needeth beating down.

Also as I was dodging some ghouls and using dodge aggressively to close distance it struck me although the pace is different combat is much like souls.

Hey Pol, want to play a Bloodborne like game but with a huge open world, sunlight and beautiful terrain? Smiley: nod I know ya want to.

Also it's my birthday. So I am going to enjoy an all day drunk and video game binge. Also I will post many times in a row with no guilt. Cuz The Witcher don't give a **** about your netiquette. He bows to no one. Actually I bowed to the emperor the first time and felt like a chump for it. So I reloaded and was like NOPE. Much more manly.

Yup.

After no small amount of exploring and gathering, I've hit level eight and was able to ding into the full Griffen set. It's pretty lackluster in appearance but gives the best stats I've seen for my level.

I'm level 5. So that means I am better than you. But it also means Turin is better than both of us. Or maybe it means leveling is fuvking slow in this game. Also I watched a lot of TV today. And it was good.

Do the storyline missions. They reward far more EXP than side quests. I was level five five until I started in on the story and my levels went up fairly quickly once I did. I'm level ten now...

I've gotta play through 1-2 first. I already own copies of each and have installed the first. Will start it soonish.

In other news, I had some kids mistake me for Boogie2988 this weekend. So time to go back to the gym.

You really don't need to play the first two to get into three. The first one has it's merits, but didn't age well. The second one is an amazing game, but not even close to as amazing as three is turning out to be. The storylines of the games are completely separate. The only thing they have in common is the setting and characters. You don't need to know what happens in one and two to jump right in on three.

I'm giving Witcher 3 a solid "B". Very hand-holding: whatever's worth seeing is marked with a "?" on the map, mysteries boil down to "Hold down the mouse button and click/follow the red stuff", pretty much no way to get it wrong. Sort of an illusion of open-worldness since you're basically following the main quest line and mopping up the quest board and map "?"s along the way. Crafting needs some work; I feel like a walking hardware store of bits of metal, nails, wood, twine, wire, gems, dust, cloth, leather, etc in various forms not counting the floral shop I keep in my pockets. Merchants sell recipes but the recipes don't say what level the gear they create is for so buying them is a gamble.

That said, it looks nice, the character dialogues are well done, combat is fun (if a bit repetitive), character stat progression is interesting with the skill chart and mutagens and stuff and the world has some nice touches such as the weather. It's a good game, but not really a "great" game. Glad I didn't pay too much for it though.

There is a special place in **** for you. Kidding, I did not play as much this weekend as I expected but so far I am enjoying it. As the main story progresses even more so. Will I claim the second coming of geebus and his flock of wild geese? Not yet. I've got a ways to go still in playing the game before I render such judgements. But in general I think I like it better than DA3 so far. Not saying that was a bad game. I played the crap out of it and enjoyed it as well, but I feel less annoyed by the little things in this game by far. Hey a plant, snip done. No stupid extended cutting animation required.

Plus boobs.

The last patch broke my ability to spam "E" to loot stuff. Now I have to press "E" to open the container then Space to loot all or else individually highlight and click each item. That's annoying as hell. Thought it was just me but I've read complaints from other people about the same thing.

Plus item targeting is wonky enough as is. I've lit or extinguished about a million candles trying to loot the boxes underneath them. Smiley: rolleyes

Yesterday I had a bugged bandit camp where the bandits just stood (and occasionally cheered, strangely enough) but couldn't be attacked, spoken to, set on fire or mind controlled. They also ignored me. I could knock them over with with the force burst type power and they'd topple backwards and could be knocked around with the blasts. I collected them into a big ragdoll pile with repeated applications of the force sign and then left them there.

His quest line was really cool. I'm level 10 now mopping up side quests. Velen is too **** big! Split my build between signs and swords. Got a greater blue mutegen giving me +40% for signs on left and finally got a lesser red to give me sword bonus on right. Igni hits respectably, debuffs armor and can stun when they are on fire. I use it after putting up Quen especially for clustered groups. I got the fire stream advanced but I am not sure I like it. Because it's sustained it makes you an easy target and most stuff just interrupts you when you try it.

I went with the sustained Quen shield which now heals me when I get hit and the second tier of Axii which now charms an opponent for a short time. A very short time, as it turns out, but I suppose it gets better with more points.

It did for me at first, but after spending the last five hours running around Novigrad doing mostly fetch quests (and going from level 13 to 15 in the process), I'm getting a bit bored. I finally had to head out into the wild to do some side content and clear some question marks. The main storyline quests could really do with some pacing adjustments.

Yeah, I've heard that if you do all of every zone you will over level. My head to Novigrad quest is level 10. But I felt like I still had too much to do in Velen. Like good fun stuff, contracts, and sidequests with story character NPC's etc. I have not even gone walking about to hunt ?'s in Velen just hitting them up as quests take me near.

I'm farming lesser red mutagens so I can make a greater red mutagen and get the stupid fun powerful extra attack bonus. I site I found recommended a place out by the orphanage in the swamp that has a level 16 Fiend. The Fiend always drops one mutagen, but the color is random. It respawns after a quick two hour meditation. I've killed it about thirty times now and I've still got two more mutagens to go...

Yeah I read the same post. I was tempted to try it but I am still a bit low for level 16 Fiends. Red mutagens are crazy low drop rate for some reason. I think pretty soon I am going to go get the Feline School set armor. I have the plans for the Griffon but it does not seem worth it to make it now since i am 12 and it's level 8. I was using the level 4 relic armor set and serpent swords for ever but since I went on walkabout I have replaced most of them with random drops.

I still can't force myself to wear heavy armor that looks like Knight gear though. Just so un witcher like. I think I will stick with light and medium, I might even slot in those bonuses someday if I get enough slots.

Also wtf Velen? Why you no have places of power. (Very few on my walkabout so far) Pirates seem stronger than their level though, ran into multiple groups of them that were a decent fight.

Each Witcher school item can be upgraded three to four times. Right now I'm using most of the Enhanced Griffin set. I still need to get the diagrams for three of the pieces. The stats increase and they change appearance. The build on each other though, so you need to craft the base item to get the Enhanced, then the Superior will use the Enhanced, and if there is a Mastercrafted version, it will use the Superior.

So I started on Blood and Bones difficulty thinking it was "normal". I died so much in the beginning, but once you hit a certain tipping point you can take things on 10+ levels ahead of yourself, especially if you plan ahead with the right oils/potions. And get good at knowing whether you should evade or dodge roll.

I found the potions tree to be overpowered though. The first one in the second rank down heals you 5/10/15/20/25% each time you use a potion. In combat I use Thunderbolt + Swallow (Or the heal one) Ive completely stopped using food at all.

Im currently 32 nearing the end I think. I did all the contracts I found, did most of the side quests. I missed a few that my wife ran across though. I did 80% of the ?s in Velen/Novigrad and just gave up In Skellig there are just so many. The morality choices are a pain they are never clear cut it seems and I've had me being nice come back to bite me in the ***.

As for red mutegens, don't ghouls drop them? Its pretty easy to find their nests. I may be wrong though. Atm Im in full Masterwork Feline gear (Light gear) with that Yellow talent that increases crit dmg 25% each piece of light gear, combined with the first talents of the top 2 rows of red. So my light attack crits a lot for considerable dmg.

I'm definitely going to replay with different choices after my initial play-though.

What the Christ is the replacement birthrate in Witcher-land? I'm constantly tripping over piles of children's bones, children being sold to witches, children being eaten by monsters, children murdered by soldiers, children dying from some ritual or test, children left to wander the wilderness, etc. You probably have to have fifteen children for one to reach adulthood in this God forsaken land.

Level 15 now wearing full enhanced Griffin. Novigrad was a bit of a slog at times with the running but Pricilla's song in the bar kind of made up for it. I also am digging the story there. I went on walkabout again to get enhanced griffin and get out of the city and that helped mix it up. Respeced to tighten my build, digging it so far. Might go hunt the cat set and go near pure combat to get deep enough to try out whirl soon for variety.

I like the game. It's nice to pick up for a couple few hours but maybe not feel like an all consuming crack binge. Pretty much enjoy it every time I play. The pacing just makes me not in a hurry and more into the story most times.

Speaking of the DLC that's the origin of this thread, I may be the last guy to know this, but you actually have to "buy" it via Steam/GOG and add it to your account to have it accessible. I assumed it was just part of the patching process.

I beat it a few nights back(Sunday night), mind you I skipped most of the ? farming in Skellig. As soon as you hit a certain point they just start throwing xp at you. I ended at 35 but when I hit like 15 or so it became much faster to level. I have a play time of 38 hours (this might be off because my wife is playing on her PC and I wasn't logged into GoG at the time(remember Witcher 3 has no DRM).

I started a second game now on the 2nd difficulty level and Ive already ran across 2 quests I missed or didn't flag the first time through the first area. This time Im going to hit every ? as they open up and all quests right away(level appropriate).
