So I picked this game up (on steam) its a politics simulator, its nothing really special, but it is interesting.

Basically you control all laws and economic policy...anything you say goes. The policies you choose dictate public perception and cost or generate money. Essentially the goal is to get reelected, not get voted out, and not get assassinated. There is 30 something little "polls" that are constantly updated based on policies some might **** off conservatives, some **** off liberals, the poor might revolt and the capitalist might kill you.

So I mucked around with Canada first, its pretty liberal here so my Corporation sharking policies went over pretty well. The people didn't mind a Carbon Tax if it meant they could have one of many welfare programs, they didn't mind when I ran up gas tax to subsidize Bus and Rail travel. They didn't even care when I Fut a Flat Tax on top of the income tax as long as there was no crime and everyone had a job. When I was done, poverty was eliminated, unemployment was gone, and the Economy was generating surpluses into a debt free bank account.

I was a Hero for 25 years! 5 straight terms. My last 3 were so crushing that I got 100% of the vote and there was no opposition fielded against me.

So I tried United States of America.

Assassinated by Capitalists
Assassinated by Ethnic Groups
Assassinated by Capitalists
Assassinated by Capitalists
Assassinated by Religious Extremists (christian)
Assassinated by Liberals

America is @#%^ed by comparison. Best I did was kill the debt, increase health care a bit, fund schools more....and I put a Carbon Tax on...I was reelected. I attempted to start eliminating oil dependency with bus/rail transport and clean cars...dead....don't @#%^ with American Oil I guess.

Not an exceptional game, but it is somewhat enjoyable, if anything to socialize America in 2 terms without dying to Capitalists.

0 obstacle to make a Utopia it seems.

I also managed to survive two terms in office in the US last night, I made no serious changes to anything...people loved me more for doing nothing, than they did when I balanced budgets, increased health care, and was fixing unemployment...weird society America...more politically secure when doing nothing than being a fiscal shark and social pariah.

The more I play this game the more it amuses me. I think I will try and save North Korea next...

If you study the history and structure of the US Gov't, you'd quickly realize that status quo is the way to go.
